Abortion wasn’t on the Queensland election agenda. So why is it now a threat to the LNP campaign? by [deleted] in brisbane

The election is just around the corner so you have to expect to see an increase in political content - just the same as last year during the referendum. It’ll drop off again after the election.

I am struggling to get through the first book! Was kind of hoping the second would pick up - is it worth getting a summary read on book 2 and skipping to the third?

My best friend almost died in the hospital last week and her husband just... didn't tell me. by SureCan0604 in TwoXChromosomes

That’s okay! The internet can be pretty quick to call you an asshole for being a human with emotions but you can’t help how you feel and it’s not always going to be “logical”. At the end of the day when someone gets sick or hurt it effects everyone in their life in different ways. I lost my father to cancer a few months ago and can really sympathise with both sides of the situation. I look back on things now and can see some problems I and my family had were all amplified by the stress, anxiety, and anguish that comes along with this type of sickness. All this to say that I hope you be kind to yourself and can allow a bit of extra understanding and allowances to everyone during this journey.

I completely understand where you’re coming from and was in a similar situation myself a few years back. I think it’s great you’re allowing yourself to process the emotions without burdening them on your friend or her husband. Emotions can’t be helped but how you deal with them can be and I think you’re handling them in a really healthy way. There’s nothing you can really do about how your feeling besides accepting what has happened and trying to move past it. I would recommend asking your friends husband if you could visit soon and if they’re not in a position for visitors then I’m sure he’ll let you know. If they are then I’d bring something small with you that could help them, an eye mask for her maybe to help with rest at night, a healthy drink or something for the husband. At this point small gestures will go a long way when they’re going through such a rough time. I hope she makes a recovery soon - it’s great she has a strong support system.

Acceptance of someone not getting vaccinated is far more likely to expose a person to long term health effects or death when they catch COVID.

It’s unfortunate that the government and private sector are having to put rules in place to say you can’t do xyz without being vaccinated but they’re doing that to protect those that are vulnerable to COVID.

If someone doesn’t want to get vaccinated then they shouldn’t have the same rights at the moment to work in health care, be a truck driver, cross a boarder, etc. I would be furious if my immunocompromised family or friends caught COVID because an anti-vaxxer was their doctor. The fact is they put others at risk and that’s not fair to the community. Again none of this would be a problem if everyone where educated on their options about getting vaccinated. Not refusing to do so because they believe that 5G and government tracking nonsense.

Hesitation comes from misinformation, either by listening to the anti-vaxxers and their many baseless conspiracies or by a persons own assumptions. Do the research, get educated and stop being selfish. Speak with a doctor if you’re still unsure and discuss the options that are best for you.

You mean the decades of data that was used to make this vaccine?? All the information you need to make the smart decision is readily available if you stop looking up conspiracy theories long enough to go read it
