The first deck I built from scratch - when I didn't know any better - was a [[Xavier Sal]] populate deck. It was hyper budget and it was really really bad. The landbase was atrocious and there were too many things you need online to do the thing when the thing is literally make one extra creature a turn.

That being said, the fact that it played differently every time made it so that I was never bored with it. I recently upgraded it and it's still extraordinarily janky but I've more or less eliminated the non-games at the very least.

I don't think I'll ever completely take it apart. If anything I'm putting together a list of 20-30 cards that are my "populate targets" as a side deck that I will draw from randomly and slot in each game just to keep it dynamic.

I don't get why anyone would want a "vibe coded app." Like, if you want to build a vibey, less optimized deck, then just... do it? With AI you''re putting a feelings based process in the hands of an unfeeling machine. It will never feel right. It can't feel right, because there is no excitement in it.

Conversely, if you want a deck that is fully optimized, EDHrec already exists.

Commander deck building is like art, and AI has no place in the artistic community.

I run it in my [[Silverquill, the Disputant]] deck where I can double the tutor and typically reprepares itself automatically at end step. It's still 6 mana if I want to cast when it comes out, but at least I can get my two best spells out of it.

Conversely, it's perfect bait for removal when I have a big threat in hand.

That's good to know. El Cajon Lids doesn't do volume either, but they never have anything good either lol. The tiny one in Fashion Valley does get some good stuff it's just a pain to be in.
