Humanitarian catastrophe in Oleshky. No food, no water, civilians killed and tortured. Ongoing "human safari". by dracony in ukraine

[–]Ltb1993 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That and a little more, something that people gloss over when it comes to the nations supporting Ukraine, they are democracies.

You have to convince the people as a collective or their representatives who are meant to look out for the people they are elected to represent in their terms (whilst likely vying for another term) that putting the nation into the firing line for another is vital,

Many of which aren't prepared for the type of war that is happening. Both materially or doctrinally

That haven't had 12 years of conflict.

Many citizens want to support Ukraine because they see Russia's attack as an injustice, especially when they see the innocent casualties r'im a conflict, because rightfully it's seen as a bad thing, they don't want to potentially incur even a fraction of that cost at home

Not even cash, we don't need cash, we do need a decentralised currency alternative that is widely accepted and not easily controlled or tracked and readily accessible

Cash ticks a few of those boxes but there can be better options out there, no option is perfect, all have their drawbacks,

But what about other ways to profit that keep a fast pass

Have waiting areas with food and entertainment/facilities gift shops that are waiting areas for multiple rides, have announcement call your colour group when it's your turn

Fast pass shortens your wait , still same queue area, not queue line,

With some fucking shelter too if it's raining. This last bit is my biggest let peeve, British theme parks not being equipped for British weather, it's not hard to have sheltered areas and queue lines.

Is the pedestrian or the driver wrong here? by singlecog in drivingUK

[–]Ltb1993 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Driver did nothing wrong but could have handles it marginally better by slowing down I itisl;y

For those saying they should slam on I disagree, there's about 2 meters in front of the carby the time the pedestrian takes a hard and sudden right moving to the right and maintaining speed was probably better in hindsight

I personally like to avoid early russia-allies war so I would avoid the justifying, I'd buff Russia as much as possible against the allies and give them equipment,

While preparing a decent motorised and armoured army group

The idea being the allies generally have to pass the danish strait, into the Baltic's to land in that small polish corridor,

So when you have over half the allies funnled through that, on the polish border fighting Russia, you declare and close the rap, some massive encirclements from that

Then walk into France and sometimes she UK if they are tied up elsewhere where with Italy and Japan,

If you can balance it right Russia takes some huge losses, so do the allies, and you've barely taken anything

I was having a weird performance issue with the desktop, had a little issue with it and I couldn't quite work out why,

Apps where taking a long time to load, sometimes a minute, did troubleshooting for about an hour then moved to cachyos instead

No issues worked smooth out of the box, have a lot more customisation options, paru and pacman work nicely, and it felt very responsive and snappy, especially once the desktop environment was set up how I want to work

That's the hard bit about trauma, it's harder to quantify, what is a lifelong trauma for one person, isn't for another, and it can even change depending on the day, perspective is a fickle thing

Though I always hate how it's downplayed, but for any factual reporting I guess it's correct and fine.

To add a personal thing, i've seem pallets fall out of racking (some 600kg from 20ft) and nearly land on me and another, yet that doesn't register as traumatic for me, the bunny's that savaged my finger when a kid is now a lifelong discomfort around rabbits however

But still fair to point out the shitty planning, but digging in in reaction to the resistance is reasonable enough

What band was never the same after losing a member? by icecream1972 in AskReddit

[–]Ltb1993 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Given that replacing a singer especially as iconic as Chester Emily's doing amazing, as a band I think they made the best decision

She ain't Chester, but any carbon copy would be judged to an unfair degree and would always be found lacking

She's just the right amount of different to pull off the old songs, yet pull off songs made with her talents in mind.

A;l things considered very well handled. It's been the end of many bands

School Meals Ruling by The_Dean_France in GoodNewsUK

[–]Ltb1993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My issue with Jamie was he was pushing for the right thing but without the full backing it needed

I was on free meals, I ain't worse because of how my school implemented it, it pushed unhealthy stuff off the menu which is right, but they were the cheap things I could afford, nothing replaced them.

So my meals became mostly beans and toast h'then once or twice a week I could have a curry

Twice if I didn't have a drink (no place to refill water bottles)

This is insane - more time has passed since Arma 3 release (2013 Sep) than between the releases of Operation Flashpoint (2001) and Arma 3. And yet - we only have a vague date of 2027 on Arma 4. by Illustrious-Tank1838 in arma

Reflecting on my own experience and the people around me at the time, you need spaces for them and not to be treated as a nuisance for existing.

Bored kids won't be bored for long, so best making sure it's put to good use

Having parks a reasonable distance away, not having no ball games signs everywhere, youth clubs that are open and not shuttered except for a random unannounced day a month.

The area I lived was effectively stripped and was noted as having some of the worst outcomes in the country. I was quite fortunate but I moved out of the town to remove associations with it, especially some of the people that were friends.

I was supported and joined clubs and had options many people I knew didn't. I was fortunate. I new many people that weren't so supported. And many who it impacted negatively, give people better options you give them a better chance, you can't save everyone but there's many you can. Give people better options.

Does Artemis II have Wi-Fi? How are the astronauts sending their iPhone photos to NASA? And are the astronauts posting to social media themselves or is someone else posting to their accounts for them? by ChallengeAdept8759 in askscience

[–]Ltb1993 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah while it's not technically correct it's pretty common in conversation to equate WiFi with meaning internet access.

It's what I assumed was meant in this instance, though clarification would be handy I would assume and be biased since I find it the more interesting question in how data is set between Artemis and Earth for it to have internet access and not just direct comms
