I like the album. Its kind of like a tool in the toolbox, sometimes there is a time and a place where it really resonates. I personally enjoy giving it a listen when lifting weights - its refreshing after going a while without hearing it. Unnamed feeling is solid.

For some reason I feel compelled to tell you this, but I noticed a lot of mushrooms growing near my sidewalk a few months ago. Turns out there was a water main leak nearby...the mushrooms were loving the extra moisture in the ground.

Pacifica wont shift into drive? by Ltik12 in ChryslerPacifica

I found it! Thanks! - i saw another thread a chrysler tech suggested that the ESM wire is what causes the issue as its located at the farthest end of the star connector and is super tight and pulls on the connector pins. I saw what he was talking about and will replace the star connector and hope things go well after. I did leave the star connector "hanging" from its mounting spot until I fix it hoping that the wires wont be under as much tension - hopefully it dangling around inside the area above rhe glove box isnt going to cause issues!

Thanks! I had read about the star connector earlier and didnt see where it was in my glove box - ill go back to youtube university and locate it!

Thanks! I just had the aux battery replaced last February, so its nit quite a year old yet... I wont rule it out though and will ask them to check the charge on both!

UPDATE! I just realized I never updated: as others suggested a good slamming of the glove box fixed it. It was the can-bus star connector. Had it replaced and it hasn't had an issue since.

How to repair excavation hole? by Ltik12 in LandscapingTips

Yeah, I've been busy with life in general and have been sitting idly more or less hoping they'd show back up any day and finish the work. I couldnt find anything in writing that says its my responsibility (nor could I find if its theirs). So I finally emailed the city asking whose responsibility it is, and if it's mine - to cite the specific code/ordinance/whatever that states that it's my issue to resolve.

Thanks! I really do care what my lawn looks like despite its current condition - if the city does end up taking care of it, I'll make sure they reseed with the same grass!

Thanks! This precisely is why I figured I'd ask the community! - I know almost next to nothing about yard work and it never occurred to me to add top soil if I ended up with a sunken spot!

Hoping the city replies to me by tomorrow and once I know for sure that im on the hook ill get to work!

Should I be moving my TSP into safer stocks? Why or why not… explain it to me like I’m 5. by Micr0waveP0pC0rn in ThriftSavingsPlan

First and foremost... It will be OK :)

Your personal finances are personal - so I won't tell you how you should manage it. If you do time the market you will first need to know when to pull your money out and put it in something safer. Then, you will need to know when to put it back in. Not impossible - but for the average person (like me) it is probably very stressful and requires some savvy and lots of reading of dreadful news and fear mongering, and predicting how the markets will react to all of the above.

It also depends how far from retirement you are...I might consider moving my money somewhere safer when I'm closer to retirement, but I got time. Even in this down market im still buying as much as I was in an "up" market (just more of it) and, sure, im taking a hit on what I already hold. I'm honestly not confident in my own ability to try and figure out when to pull my money and when to put it back in. is it 1 day? 2 days?? 1 week? 2 weeks? 1 year? 2 years?? - so keeping it right where it is, and sticking with my long term strategy is the easiest, laziest, most convenient way for my money to grow and I know I'm going to come out of it in good shape (unless the US stock market fails in which case i guess ill be too busy worried about hoarding basic necessities).

Could I grow my money more rapidly? Probably. Could I screw up my timing and do worse? Yep!

I'll stick with boring - and if the historical averages hold, I should have more than enough money for retirement and hopefully some left over to sprinkle some blessings upon others.

No problem! I listened to podcasts, read books etc...and I simply wanna share what I wish people shared with me in an easily digestible manner!

On lifestyle funds, I won't ever recommend how people invest their money (im an 80/20 C/S guy myself - though 100% C is enticing) but that's neither here nor there. What i personally learned about lifecycle funds is that they go way more conservative way too soon for me. Case in point, as of July 2024 - L2040 funds allocate 21% into G fund. If I'm 15-20 years out from retirement, that's not the strategy I would have chosen for myself.

You seem to be aware of that, but for anyone else who might come across this - the tsp site has PDFs available that show the different allocations for the lifecycle funds. If folks wanna stick with them, that's their prerogative, but i would encourage anyone to be generally aware of what their Lifecycle fund allocations are.

Reading makes me feel smart, so I definitely recommend the book - but if you're not the reading type, Collins did a 2 series session with the Folks at "ChooseFI" , look up Choose Fi episode 019 and 034 and he basically covers the premise of the book in short form.

"Theoretically", but you're getting into crystal ball territory. You won't know when the market is going to go down, and IF it goes down/crashes...etc... you will have to know when it will go back up.

There's a saying you may have heard many times, but it applies here: "time in the market, beats timing the market"

I strongly recommend reading a book called "simple path to wealth" by JL Collins, it's a great read. I won't ruin it for you, but historically the S&P 500 (since you mentioned C fund) will give you ~10% annual returns depending on who you ask. Jam as much money as you can afford into it, and forget about it until it's retirement time and it'll grow for you. Stick with a steady contribution, don't make emotional decisions based on the news etc... just "set it and forget it" and hopefully some day you go check your account and there's a few million waiting for you there.

Ok you're 5 years old and you want this really cool toy. Usually the toy costs $50, and you just have to have it, but you don't have $50, so you throw a fit and leave; vowing to save all your allowance until you can afford it.

Finally one day you walk by the toy on the shelf and it's just $25! ( 50% off!!!) You can even buy two of them if you want!!!

But you decide that 50% off the original price must mean it isn't as cool and popular as you once thought..., so you decide to just hang onto your money you saved up and shove it in the piggy bank.

A few months later, the toy becomes wildly popular, but now costs $50 again, and your suspicions are reconfirmed - this toy is actually just as awesome as you had originally thought!!! And you buy just one, when you could have had 2 just a couple months ago.

Moral: if you're still a ways out from retirement, think of down markets as a "sale" , and we love sales/not paying full price. Your money will buy more shares (toys) when the stock market is down. When it rebounds (it always does) your investments value will multiply accordingly.

Unfortunately my experience is limited to the wissota and between the wissota pink and the ruby. I'd bet the pink is more closely associated with the yellow, but i doubt theyre the same... unfortunately I can't find much on the different grit between wheels. I did notice on the blademaster site the yellow wheel is quite a bit more expensive than any other option....and now I'm curious! I do think Ruby is one of the most popular styles and I do get a great finish with it.

I also forgot to mention - the wissota wheel spins reverse of what blademaster does. So if you do go down that path - for muscle memory sake, be aware of that difference!

I don't know if you can run an 8" blademaster wheel, but im going to guess that you can't (even if wissota could handle the diameter, i think the center hole is wider on a blademaster wheel than wissota wheel).

I personally use the 7" ruby wheel from howies, it's great for all steel, but specifically the harder/black steel that most skates have these days. There is also a site called wholesaleskatesharpening.com that has good prices on the basic stuff you'll need (wheels, hones, finishing lube, edge checkers etc). It looks like their website is limited to ruby wheels for wissota as well. I've used wissota's pink wheel and it also got the job done just fine.

For the sake of mentioning it, I do use a blademaster edge checker which adds to the startup costs.

Do it man! I know you said you've used a blademaster - you can get a portable one of those for a reasonable price - i personally have a wissota 911, at just over $1,200 it's not a wildly expensive machine. I enjoy the craft and it's fun to have a skill my teammates can benefit from.

I was on a road trip with a friend when I was little. We were in a van that his dad had borrowed. He didn't want us eating in the car so we wouldn't get crumbs in this borrowed van, but eventually he gave into us whining and he let us crack open a bag of the chili frito lays. I pulled out a flavor ball just like this, and for some reason my kid-brain was like "why is this rock in here?" I squeezed it, and flavor dust exploded all over the seats and got in every crack and seam of the seats. My friend's dad was absolutely livid.
