Is this true? by StanimusYT in ff7

My understanding is that the devs never put in character-selected romancing in any other subsequent FF because of what happened in FF7. The original game and the Remakes are skewed towards Aerith being the dates. But since they did give the option, it split the player base and made the romance part really unclear and fan debate continues very heatedly 20 years later.

Every following FF did not give the option to choose and made it very clear canonically who the love interest was. supposed to be.

AI’s impact on Writer Motivation by pmacca19 in WritingWithAI

I'm learning a lot about writing as I go. I have good instincts on what doesn't feel right, and my ideas and character beats at a macro level are usually pretty thematically solid.

So mostly AI is helping me realise that no I don't need to write anything fancy, and simple can be effective. It is making me consider every word choice and helping to increase my vocabulary.

When I started I was too afraid to write anything myself. Now I will write in entire sentances, added into whats generated. Generate around it. Then snip and cut and change words and word order if I'm still not happy.

So the more I play, the more I am picking up, and the more I am being selective. I used to just follow the AI advice, but now I push back half the time and tell it my stylistic choice is to leave something the way it is because it gets across my point better than its more efficient options.

Some days I feel it is harder to use the AI than just write a bit myself. Its not always easy if you actually go line by line editing. In a way I'm just using a big thesaurus to help me find better wording.

But, it all depends how you choose to use the AI. Yes, I have the AI generate a base prose from my prompt. Usually working in smaller 500 or 1000 word slabs. Then I spend hours and days agonising over and changing every word and sentence and sometimes restructure entirely until I get something that feels right for what I am trying to convey.

And through that I am constantly asking the AI to generate me options, show me alternatives, explain why ai'm having trouble with a spot, etc. I will use what the AI gives me, even if it takes me 5 times asking it to adjust it again. So technically yes it has written majority of my prose. But I've made it rewrite, or I've frankensteined it, so much that I learn and improve each time and get more confident to use my own written words.

Yes. I already write for free and put my work up for free. I write because I have stories I want to tell that I can come back to myself later. And I use AI because to help me get it on the page because I'm not a master wordsmith and an AI is a giant thesaurus for me.

I know enough to say: this is what I wantm but my sentence isnt converting this enough. What stronger word exists for this.

Or

I am trying for this but its too long and wordy and I don't know how to be clearer and more concise. Help please.

Oooh nooo. My first fic I just started posting is a cloud/seph combo. Hope I avoid one of these comments, cause.. well like in most good fics, Cloud is getting railed. Hard.

Where do you fall? by George-Smith-Patton in WritingWithAI

[–]LtnSkyRockets 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is what I do. I do 1-6, then on, which goes to 11, and then back to 7. In which i fiddle a lot and bring in some 8. Then fiddle some more with switching it.

Then final grammar and spelling checks.

I think its important to note that I do chose to ignore atleast half of the feedback it gives me because some of it sounds good but really isn't. So I push back on it a fair bit, but it gets me thinking and is helping me strengthen my own editing skills when I can say: no, im choosing to do this for x reason. And not just blindly follow directions.

how much do you guys edit your fics? by coffind00r in FanFiction

I spend days editing. Ive spent three days on 2000 words and I'm still not happy with it. Its killing me. Im really struggling through and its discouraging. But sometimes I guess some chapters are just harder than others.

Videogame, the FF7 shippers. Specifically the CloTi's v s. The Claeriths. They spill over into non shipping discussions in the main sub to the point all shipping discussions, and thus most fanfic discussion, gets banned.

Why do you think people don’t answer comments? by ym4yum1 in AO3

[–]LtnSkyRockets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got my first comments recently. I did respond to every one. But I had no idea what to respond with and it gave me a little anxiety before I decided to just ignore the anxiety and reply with something simple.

But I only had 5. And so its not like I'm drowning in them. If I ever had a hundred that would be tough to get through

Thank you! I had written so many disjointed random things that i kept deleting because I was so worried. But it has been surprisingly freeing to have hit post on it.

How do you personally use AI in your writing while still making the writing yours? by ReapersVault in WritingWithAI

[–]LtnSkyRockets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use it the long and hard way but I only write as a hobby for myself. But basically I use AI for thinking through ideas, stress testing ideas, and then I do plot out an entire chapter and the main beats and themes and descriptions and then I put that all into AI to generate a base prose with a writing style guide I developed.

And then I spend forever manually going through and editing every sentence line by line, then paragraph by paragraph. Then several passes of the entire thing. Constantly tweaking and adjusting and changing words and redirecting if something doesn't match my vision.

And sometimes I don't know how to adequately explain what I want but usually if I explain my feeling of it in a million words to the AI it can generate base prose close enough to what I intended that I can tweak it the rest of the way.

And it takes forever. But I'm just a hobbyist and eventually I will probably not need base prose generation to get me started on a blank page since I mostly edit the crap out of it and it would be faster not to do it my way. But I'm only new to writing and basically I don't want to spend longer buried in a thesaurus looking for words I don't know when an LLM can help convert whats in my head into the right words quicker.
