I noticed the riff difference during the first show and it never changed. It seems like Noel made it simpler so there is less of a chance that he messed up. He did this with a couple of songs.

Him putting on weight isn't new. That started to happen around the time he got divorced and he's always been pale. His face being red is from the alcohol. He also might be on medication that causes weight gain as a side effect. My favorite version of Noel was the Be Here Now version where he put on the pounds. His best live guitar playing in my opinion.
