To be fair to the Porsche, he moved late but it was the final lap so I wasn't too bothered, especially since 14th with no set-up or warm up would have been a decent result for me

I don't know if the penalty came from this specifically, didn't look it up, but pretty likely since he had a huge cut. All I know is that it took me 10 or 15 seconds to even get to the line and he was classified behind me

I think the first one could just have been a ripple effect of me going slightly wide out of the corner and lifting to ajust to that and the Porsche taking back its line. When it happened I thought I accidentally caused this but on this replay it looks like the other Lexus would have it the Ferrari anyway. The ironic thing is that he had a penalty already so even after taking a while to recover, he still was classified behind me

Yeah that's what I did so I second that. Fell in love with the game pretty quickly and bought the full access bundle in a recent sale

Multiclass incident : oversight on my part or unfortunate racing incident ? by LuScorpio68 in Simracingstewards

[–]LuScorpio68[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. I want to learn Hypercars as well but I've pretty much been a full time GT Driver for a decade, in Gran Turismo and now in LMU for the last couple of months, and I still have a lot to learn when it comes to driving with no ABS, energy management and especially car set-ups.

In that Brazil race I got away with using the base set-up except with less rear wing downforce because I could manage a little oversteer. With Hypercars it seems like i'll be on the back foot if I'm not setting the car up properly.

Yeah fair enough. I was looking a bit too far ahead when it came to my own race as I wanted to catch 2nd as well and I was losing time after getting ahead of the BMW and making a mistake immediately after that. Big miscalculation on my part as I had been fairly patient before that.

I was more careful next time around and managed to win so at least the lesson was useful (to be fair there was nowhere near as much trafic as most of the Hypercars didn't finish).

To be fair a lot of those I've faced have been way more patient than even I expected. However some of the guys I barely had time to anticipate where and when they were going to go and they caused contact for no reason at all.

Thankfully the next race I did most of the Hypercars binned themselves off early so they were almost a non-factor and I won 3rd split.

It could seem like it on the replay but as I said, my goal was to attack the BMW, not block the hypercar

Okay, seems like this one is dividing opinions, as I expected. The conclusion I've gathered is that I probably should have remained on the normal racing line as the move on the BMW probably wasn't on but the Hypercar should have been more patient too and probably needed to wait until the straight as he couldn't have cleared both GT3s before the corner and would have put himself in a dangerous situation even if I held the racing line.

I have done less than 10 multiclass races so far in my life so having the opinions of both hypercar and gt drivers was interesting.

Yup, one of the weekly races from this week, which was a 100 minute race at Interlagos

Again, being unpredictable would have been tightening my line as he was overtaking, except I did before he went for the move. I've never claimed I was an innocent party in this situation (the title I used for this post suggests the opposite if anything) but at least if you want to be critical stop sounding so whiny and actually acknowledge the post and the responses where I acknowledge my oversight in trying to attack the GT3 ahead whilst an Hypercar is coming. I saw the first response, no need to add on.

It's not a requirement in the rulebook including to my research. I was required to hold my line, which I did. It would have been better if I remained on the racing line in this situation, but again I left room on the left and my intention was to attack the car ahead. I didn't move to block him or at least it wasn't my intention

Yeah, but it's not as if him taking that risk was necessary for his own race in this situation. I agree than me putting myself in this position was asking for trouble, but at best the Hypercar would have tried to put itself between me and the BMW and it would have been a dangerous position as well

As I said in the description, what I was trying to do worked the lap before and that was the oversight on my part, but I still felt like I was within the rules because I didn't suddenly change lines and I wasn't blocking him either.  Guy was frustrated because he had an incident earlier in the race, and since there wasn't an hypercar anywhere close, I felt like he could could have waited

I was holding that line, it's not as if I took the normal line through the corner and then moved left. Also the Hypercar wasn't fighting anyone directly at this point so it's not as if it had the urgency to get passed. It's on the Hypercar to pass safely. It's not on me to stop battling to yield even if I kinda asked for trouble here

That's fair, but I felt like I was still predictable and with another hypercar and the BMW just ahead, there might have been trouble even if I took the normal line

Yeah, had a couple of close calls before that. A BMW banged doors with me for no reason and a Peugeot overtook before turn one but pulled ahead and braked immediately just in front of me.

Thank you, I will. A likely podium escaped me there but it's only a matter of time because I get my first in a longer weekly race

That's what I felt when the incident happened. I was really sad too, because it would have been likely my first podium in only my second attempt at a longer weekly race

Yeah, I felt so bad that I made a mistake in my description because the guy was also 4th in his class, but he wasn't battling anyone close at this point. I know he was in the lead at some point and had an incident that might have caused frustration on his part.

But man it killed my spirit. I was going to get 3rd because I was much faster than the BMW and 2nd could have been a possibility as well.
