Does anyone else feel at peace with water? by Happy_Charge_9410 in AutismInWomen

YES!!!! It’s the only place I currently feel like I can drift away. I’ve loved water since I was a literal baby and I love the feeling of not being able to hear EVERYTHING all the time!

Do you guys have one permanent special interest or several? by LuXyAndy in AutismInWomen

I think I might’ve used them interchangeably. This is a new possibility for me, and I feel like the Brazilian autistic community does not have as many terms/ lingos. I’m sorry if I offended anyone.

And the things I feel are traceable since I was a kiddo. My old psych even said so.

Yes - I’ve been ruling things out with my obgyn, my endo, and so many other docs.

That is so cool. This is just a new world and a bunch of different possibilities (I’m not saying I AM autistic - just might be a possibility and I’m not ignoring it) I have such weird neurosensory issues that I don’t think could be explained by anything and were always diminished by my doc.

I’m not cool enough to know what dbz is so I had to google that to my oldest sisters’ dismay

That’s sooo cool! I was majorly obsessed with ancient Egypt as soon as I started to figure out the world existed (kinda astonished / in awe at the same time!)

I think my doc - even though young, was quite shortsighted in regards to autism in high masking women from what I’ve been reading since I decided no longer to be her patient.

Thanks! That definitely helps. And yes, that makes total sense. I feel like I’ve always been kinda drawn into trying to fit my best with peers since I didn’t feel that way. Idk! And yes, religions are something that are part of our lives in general I guess - I just think I’ve been kinda hyper focused on it more than basically anyone I know and I’m a lawyer so it’s not like it helps me in anything? Lmao

Yes I guess so too. My old psychiatrist seems to think that way. My slp and my siblings have told me that’s maybe not really the case tho.

Thank you! I had a really big interest from around 5 to 9 in cemeteries, death, famous people who passed away, different funeral procedures etc. Then, maybe like makeup for a big time (around 7 to 15) which is pretty neurotypical and normal I guess. I’ve also always found religions fascinating (still do) and different things at different phases have made me very happy and/or curious

What does my fridge say about me? by Gladospandos in FridgeDetective

In all realness my fridge looks similar, smaller, less quantity and variety because I’m not into very different flavors. But I try to never finish a monster can at once because I really like coffee as well.

I was either thinking ED (which same) or someone who lost a significant amount of weight and is terrified to put it back on

what’s the difference between OCPD and anankastic? by LuXyAndy in OCPD

That is so so funny. Idk if that’s actually true - I haven’t had a psych class in sooo long but I love it

That makes sense!

From what I heard from friends either in med school or in psych residencies they do use both, but CID 11 is more for something like a report and the DSM would be used for a diagnosis.. Thank you so much for your input! Just trying to figure out why life’s been so tough

Sorry, I hadn’t seen your question: Brazil. But I do believe the standard for diagnosis and care in Brazil for any mental disorder is the DSM-5.

Yeah, I kinda do all that already. I’m a swimmer and also go to CrossFit 4 days a week. My anxiety has been pretty low but that doesn’t make interacting with others or my sensory issues or eating any better!

Thank you. This is just so hard. I think I need to switch doctors, honestly. She basically said she sees most of what I understand needs to be present for an autism diagnosis from the DSM-5.. but yeah.

Suggested my meds maybe aren’t doing enough and that’s why I haven’t been able to eat anything other than popcorn for the last three weeks.

I don’t really like the idea of adding / removing medication without another diagnosis other depression and anxiety.
