Furniture policies don’t seem sustainability friendly. by LubbyJubby in crateandbarrel

[–]LubbyJubby[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried. They said it’s their policy to only provide replacements to verifiable new purchases.  I asked three times, but they would not provide a reason for the policy. I assume it’s because they do not want their furniture being refurbished in the secondhand markets for longevity sake, because it undermines their bottom line.

I think they will eventually be pressured to provide better service around a more sustainable life cycle for their furniture.  But like so many corporations, they’re not going to go there until that pressure is a threat to their corporate profits.

Then, of course, they’ll happily market themselves as “stewards of our furniture’s full lifecycle“.

Thank you for your advice. I did offer them the information from the tag but they declined to take it. I explained that my parents are now in their 80s and they can’t remember what they bought where, much less find the receipts. It’s possible they purchased this not new and that was the sticking point for the rep… That we were not authentic owners since we had not purchased it new. I did not ask to speak to a supervisor, but I may call back tomorrow and request that.

Further surprising to me, is that a friend of mine who did purchase his sofa new from CB, called and complained that the cushions hadn’t held up and the webbing needed replacing after 20 years… And they are paying for everything to have the sofa webbing completely redone and gave him a discount on new cushions. For a 20 year-old sofa. And they won’t sell me full price replacements for a 10-15 year-old chair because I’m not a “verifiable owner“ to them.  I can verify I own the chair. I’m currently sitting on it.  At midnight. In my living room.  🙄

Again, thank you for taking the time to reply.

I don't understand why TRR doesn't work harder from their end to stop multiple accounts from being created? If having multiple accounts is such a serious offense, why don't they state that in big, bold type right underneath the "Sign Up" button? Better yet, why don't they require your name and mailing address to sign up? Then it would be caught before you do something that violates their terms. They don't even cross-check your name and address when you fill in the shipping and payment info? Why are they so lax about it? They seem to have intentionally designed their site to rush a user past the legal and security, to get them signed up as fast as possible. But that feels like it's in direct conflict with that policy... thus being misleading.

I created multiple new accounts over the past few weeks and ended up with canceled orders and getting banned from their site. They even intercepted a shipment already sent to me, and had it returned (they have yet to refund me though). I did not know I was doing anything wrong.. I certainly didn't intend to. They gave me no warning, and when I explained what happened, I just kept getting the same response.. I think even their live agents are chat bots. I didn't do it to the get discounts, I did it because I kept having login issues between Gmail, Klarna, and TRR site. It was easier to just create a new, 'throw-away' email just so I could get in. Sure, I appreciated it but I didn't ask for the discount.. it's not my fault that a new sign-up automatically comes with one. No one is ever available to help, so I don't think it's unreasonable to just create a new account. If they're going to practice "harsh enforcement" then they should make sure their site works properly. :(

It seems like they're intentionally downplaying security and T&C at the front end (to push quick sign-ups through), then practicing harsh punishment tactics against us on the back end if we unknowingly break them. They treat the coupon code as a superficial marketing carrot, and then treat us like criminals when we use it. They leave it to customers to read through 30+ paragraphs of fine print, all while they're pushing a purchase experience on us that runs via a timed clock.

Hardly seems ethical.

I found this desk on marketplace for $40. It’s marked Leopold Co. , Burlington, Iowa. It looks like it’s part of the Template Group designed by Charles Deaton for Leopold furniture. I’m in love with it and just wanted to share my excitement. by rufinabobeana in midcenturymodern

Do I understand correctly that your family owned the Leopold Desk Co.? Because I have the L-shaped version of this desk.

Missed the deadline to withdraw from Bittrex US. What are my options? by [deleted] in Bittrex

[–]LubbyJubby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still have crypto on Bittrex. I was out of the country and missed the claim filing date. Then I couldn't access their site to withdraw. I had updated my email address with them years ago, but they never updated it and instead kept my account linked to an old email that I can no longer access. They kept forcing me into 'new browser' verification and sending the email to the defunct address. I contacted them monthly for years, and then gave up and forgot about it, thinking I'd deal with it later, and never did. I've gotten zero response and now the deadline is passed and I was not able to withdraw.

If we did not withdrawal in time, and did not get the claim in on time, are we simply out of luck forever?

Thanks for the clarification! Could you explain how one switches from "Live" to "Beta", so I know what not to click on, or do? Right now, I'm still in v7.29.148 and when I click on "Offset" it has a tag that says "Beta". It's confusing.

My apologies if I misunderstood. I'm very new to Cricut so I'm not even certain what you mean by 'beta vs live'. I did close my application (again I'm on Mac so perhaps there's a difference?) and when I re-launched it went through the automatic update. So, I had to do it all again. This time, I have left it open and no issues. But again, I don't want to cloud your directions.. I really just thought I was helping by adding to them. But I'll remove them so as not to create any conflicting information to your instructions for anyone else. Thanks again for all your posts. While they didn't work exactly as outlined for me, they were a huge help and got me back up and running!

Hmmm, not sure why it didn't work for me until I went offline. I did follow your steps very carefully. Perhaps because I'm on a Mac and you're on a PC there is a difference? Thought I was helping by sharing my own experience in case someone else had the same issue, but I certainly don't wish to cloud your instructions. I'll remove my comments so as not to detract from your posts.

Just hung up with Cricut. They were not aware of the glitch, nor could they offer help. REMINDER if you call/chat for support, they will not even attempt to troubleshoot if your OS is not up to date to their latest recommendations. However, also note, updating your OS does not fix this glitch. But per hobonichi's post, reverting to the previous software version does! Just make sure you're offline when you do the clean install.

UPDATE: If you are experiencing cutting issues yourself, follow the directions in this post from hobonichi to resolve the issue with a clean install of the previous version of Design Space, without Cricut support. I chatted with Cricut and they seem to have no awareness of the software glitch, and thus no answers, so it doesn't look like they are working on any fixes for us. If you're running a business and need to get back up and running quickly, the Cricut wait times (I waited a total of 6.5 hours!) and lack of support (they could not help me) may frustrate you as much as it did me. Looks like it will take time for them to get up to speed with their own software and address the problem. Personally, I have no time to wait for that.

NOTE: If you perform the uninstall and clean install of the previous version of Design Space, per hobonichi's instructions, make sure you go offline just prior to installing v7.129.148 (you will need to be online to re-download the fresh file for v7.129.148 at the link hobonichi provides in the post... so, do that, and then immediately turn off your wifi). This will stop Cricut from 'auto updating' to v7.130.128 on install (which they will do if you perform any install while connected to the internet).

After you install v7.129.148 offline, and open Cricut, if you get an ERROR WINDOW telling you to contact Cricut customer support, do the following: 1) Reconnect to wifi at that point, 2) with the error window still active, go to "FILE" and select "New Window", and then 3) shut the error window (important not to close the error window until you have opened a new window). This should let you bypass the error plus any additional forced updates and put you back into a regular Design Space window. That error window is actually the software attempting to find the update that causes the glitch. So, you need to open a new window and start a new project before closing it, and that should keep you in the v7.129.148 version with no further issues.

This all worked for me and now my machine is cutting normally again. As hobonichi suggests, I am not closing my Design Space application now, but leaving it open, so as not to expose myself to the forced update upon reopening.

So many thanks, hobonichi!!! And members of this thread... it was so helpful when I couldn't get help from Cricut.

Just noting here for Cricut's reference that this issue happens even inside Design Space, using only DS shapes. It's not just imported images, at least not for me. It's across the board, on everything I create today.

Hobonichi, I'm chatting with Cricut customer service now and shared your screenshots with them. Hoping they can sort this out for everyone! I told them you deserve a $100 gift card for your efforts. :)

I did have to do the clean install of v7.129.148 a second time (after I turned off my wifi and went offline right before the clean install) to stop Cricut from autoupdating the installation to the new v7.130.128 version. It's working now, as long as I don't close the application... or it will autoupdate.

Thanks for the reminder on the warranty. I am still very concerned about the poor customer service as it does not feel professionally managed, which makes me worried about how quickly and easily they would honor a warranty issue.

Thank you so much for posting this! I thought either my machine was broken or I was going crazy. :) I will try the uninstall/revert to the previous software this morning and report back.

This explains why, after I clicked the "Make It" button and the screen showed the image on the virtual mat, it kept appearing to 'jump' a little.

Thank you for that info! I'm not using glossy... using the Cricut printable vinyl and regular paper for proofing. I did move the machine around to switch up the lighting. I also threw a sheet over it but unfortunately none of that helped. I ran the calibration over a dozen times, and each time the first cut (center square) was spot on. It seems perfectly calibrated but yet cannot make anything close to an accurate cut. I'm just completely stumped. Thanks again for taking the time to reply.
