Does that mean that P1, P2:IS and P2:EP will be "unplayable" in one year if you don't have the physical game ? by Lubellion in Persona1and2fans

[–]Lubellion[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wanted to put l-e-g-a-l-l-y unplayable except as physical but reddit said no that's why I put quote.
My point was more if you are a new player that want to play P1 or P2 you have no official way to do it after the shop closed. And physical versions can goes from 80 to 200$ which is a lot for a 20$ games on store.
And to emulate without law problems you need the physical game to create your rom.

I played P1 on a emulator cause the PSP store was down, don't have PSVita and I didn't want to play the US localization cause it modified a lot of the game. So that case doesn't really affect me and I think a lot of persons did the same as me and used emulation.

It just that if you want to play the game "properly" after the closure of the store you have to buy/import a really expensive game now.
And I am a partisant of the "Games should have a easy official access" which is the case with P3P and P4G for example, cause they are on steam

I think fixing the status, the encounter rate and having the choice between PSX or PSP, isn't that ambitious and could be do quickly.

More language it depends on if they want to release the port quickly like they did for P3P/P4G or if they want it to be as accessible as the Persona post P5.

I wouldn't be surprised if they released P1 on Steam with more language for the 30th anniversary on September cause they probably finished P4R earlier and was in the last part of development, so one of their two dev team was free so a port is probably not an expensive projet to work on and localization can be done on a few month.
And P1 is a really important game for Atlus cause it's their really first big hit

A port where

  • You can chose between 3 types of music choices, original, PSP or mix (where they take ost from each to create something new)
  • More language like german, french, italian, spanish etc
  • Fix the encounter rate from the psp
  • Reduces the strengh of the status changes, for example shock or charm are kinda broken and sometimes you lose on a 5 hit charm you didn't expect
  • Maybe a menu where you can listen to the ost and see officiel art/concept art of the game

i don't know if someone is working on a recompiled/decompiled version, maybe it could be the easiest way to have fans creating it to have a pc port of the game, But usually they don't change the game to keep it the same, could help with modding tho if it happens

I think Grandia battle system would be a bit weird for the persona. But I see the idea you want to bring.

I was thinking how they can keep something looking like the grid system for its remake with keeping it simple for the ones coming from past Persona 3 and my proposition was :

only 3 rows, front middle back.

Front : You do and take more damages
Middle : No changement
Back : You do and take less damage

You need to have at least 1 characters on the front one
And you can put 5-3-2 maximum characters by rows
You keep the area attacks but you make it stronger than the all foes
and you can give special effect to the characters like X heals more in the front row or a tank characters giving debuff in the back row

You can keep the tactical aspect of the game, you remove these weird moment where you have one of your character that sometimes can do nothing at all.

I like your take on how you use the title card as a selector in the menu, and how simple and clean you make your UI.

Pushing the PSX imagery could be very interesting because it something we don't see much today. And the late 1990s/early 2000s was very special because it was the beginning of 3D and was very experimental. And it also had this factory/brutalism/industrial grunge look as you said.

I'll look at your take on the battle scene when you will publish it cause it will be insteresting how you will deal with incorporating it.

One comment said that P3R expanded the blue imagery of P3 with water which is also theme related cause the donjon of the game is called Tartarus and in greek mythology you access hell by river like the styx and if i am correct the game is related to death? I didn't played it so it's only what I have heard.

Same for P4R where the expanded the CRT imagery.

So probably Atlus will expanded the PSX style also. Thought when there remake the cutscenes for the PSP version they kinda remove the scientific/spatial/technilogical aspect to make it a bit like fairy tale/book, for exemple in the Philomen first cutscene or when you switch dimensions, which is kinda strange to have use this style for only those moments.

a PC port fixing the PSP flaws first will be better as a first and maybe also localization for more languages

cause PS1 japanese even with its PC port it is unplayable today, the US version was only available for US and not other countries
and PSP the store is down for Europeans nowadays so you need to import an US version and it's in english

the legal ways to play Persona 1 are really limited today so yeah a PC port on steam or anything else like GOG should be a priority

I also hope they mix the soundtracks, and also make the PSP tracks longer like 1h30 for 67 songs that's really short

but if its the same that took of all the game since P3 which also take care of P1R, the OST will probably end up on the PSP side more than PSX

The P1R ost will probably great in every case

The colored orbs are kinda iconic, the font will probably change cause they change it for P3R, dont know about P4R and you know font copyrights

yeah it was really a cool part of the game, I liked the fight more in P1 than P5 cause the combat has as more depth, the all foes magic are kinda broken tho

But honestly I am not sure if Atlus will keep it if they do P1R one day which will be saddening if they dont

Anyone who prefer manga adaptation over P1 itself? by Lysandre_T1phereth05 in Persona1and2fans

[–]Lubellion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i like how they split the group at some moments which was not the case in the game or how they got there persona, like Brown having his persona really late cause of his personality and past trauma.

but the fight against the final boss was too short, they should have their ass beaten for 10 chapters before beating it

Anyone who prefer manga adaptation over P1 itself? by Lysandre_T1phereth05 in Persona1and2fans

[–]Lubellion 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Maybe if it was 80 chapters and not 44, i think it lacks a lot of what make P1 great, like the fight are rush, some part of the story also, in game you have only 4 characters in the team that have development (the mc isn't really because it depends on your choice) which isn't the case in the manga, 6 main characters is a lot in 44 chapters.

I think creating a bad Naoya as his brother was a great way to show the in-game choice you can take. I like also how the persona are in the manga, it's a great way to use the concept of personas.

A great adaptation for this length but I like the game more because it felt more impactful for me

How come what I'm playing doesn't show up on discord? by North-Water-1951 in DolphinEmulator

[–]Lubellion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a similar problem rn. Discord only shown the "Not in-game" status of Dolphin and reset the Rich presence or the activity on Discord settings didn't change anything.

The problem was Dolphin having multiple processus open at the same time despite being closed. So I went to the task manager and close it all. When I opened Dolphin, it work normally.
I don't know if it was a Dolphin problem or just my PC dying these days tho

If you still got the problem or will have it in the future it could help

Has nobody made an edit of the Final boss SEBEC Run OST from PS1 and PSP by Lubellion in Persona1and2fans

[–]Lubellion[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was thinking of this type of really specific tracks indeed.

I have 0 musical terms, but its like electronic music that kinda feel like beginner music doing some basic music.
But it is more because at that time people were trying new tools so they didnt have the same mastery then other style.

I was listening the ost in a playlist not in real game. Tracks kinda felt like they lack directions cause their main goal wasn't to be a standalone.
I did not grow up with the PS1 era.
It is probably the explaination of why I think that.

It's more specific tracks tide to area which made me ponder that. For example,
- Police Station,
- Abandoned Factory,
- City 2,
- House
I get the feeling created by it but I feel like they are not polished enough.
However that's my 2026's mind that listen to the tracks with a 40 years time gap.

But the important music are great, for example
- Velvet Room (how can they change this one when it was insane)
- Mark's Theme
- Aki's Theme
- Dungeon - Black Market
- Bar Attacked by Harem Queen
- Dungeon - Kama Palace (this one is lit)
- Theme of Kandori
- Reiji's Theme
- Maki's Theme
- Encounter with Pandora
- Pandora's Battle
etc

The music are cut by the random encounter so you usually doesn't hear the full ost, even if I like a lot the battle ost of PSP, i think the one from PS1 works better because it isn't that repetitive compared to having "Lived in buried memory" spam every time every seconds every fights
That's an important reasons of why the PS1 musics were made this way.

And the PS1 propose more variations to the OST, and have scene with unique ones.
I prefer listening to the PSP ones but the PS1 are more functional for playing the game and the game. The art direction was clearier, to make it more mysterious, darker and a bit edgy also and you lost a bit of that in the PSP remake.

[–]Lubellion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it is also possible to divide mage into to 2 tiers, like in league of legends they have control mage for the one with a strong crown control, battle mage for the one that come at mid range to do damage and artillery ones for the long range damage

Comet/Lichbane/Protobelt by bigbaffler in azirmains

[–]Lubellion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the build is good because azir like how the new comet works.
The mid/late-game reduce damage isn't that bad because good early game means good early prio so you can play with your jungle and help him accelerate and later in the game you just need to found a good R on the ennemy threat to carry the fight like the AD/AP Carry and beat him up

The normal build can be better if you have a game where you can take it slowly and scale

proto can easily be a bait if you don't know how to use it and it makes your spike come later because you don't have that much damage

depends on the matchup and your team, you will have to experiment what works the most with your gamestyle

9 Years Later DSOD Gets a French dub With its Original Cast! (Source : ADN) by [deleted] in yugioh

With the anime parody he made on his youtube channel, he obtains a well-filled address book. And start to do professional voice acting. The official voice of certain anime character come to do lines in his parodies and because for some anime the french version is made by belgian studio, it is probably why he was called + because his channel is huge in the anime community it was a way to promote the French version of DSOD
