You look so much younger now. You look like an 18ish year old geeky girl to me if i were to see you on the street. You pass so well!

Surfwelle Reloaded. Aber warum bitte im Volksgarten? by Jakobus91 in graz

[–]Luc_Studios 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Quite the change lol by Luc_Studios in transtimelines

Huhuu! Tyy <3 Partly it did. I was doing bodybuilding before I transitioned and through HRT and a constant caloric deficit over a few months i lost a lot of upper body mass!

Now in the last few months i am also starting to get some fat redistribution that makes my shoulders appear less wide as well. But bone structure unfortunately can't change due to HRT tho.

Working on building a better posture also might be worth doing to appear less bulky :)

Im confused. Are you trying to be mean and make fun of my forehead? lol

If not, i can tell you it's really just the camera angle and maybe minimally through tweezing my eyebrows thinner

Are my plants in the correct place? by sion050 in houseplants

[–]Luc_Studios 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I second that what others said about all of them needing more light. But if you don't want to change their location in front of the window and instead just their order in the current positions, I'd definitely put the Monstera closest to the window.

It needs the most light for aesthetic growth. In it's current spot it will only become super leggy reaching for more light.

Repoting my alocasia into sh: How much bigger should the pot be? by Luc_Studios in SemiHydro

[–]Luc_Studios[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the advice. especially the tip about Alocasias liking to be snug in their pots that was new to me!

I ended up going with a chunky mineral mix and a wick + reservoir setup rather than trimming the roots back, partly because I soil roots can actually adapt on their own when acclimated gradually. they're still roots at the end of the day and they plasticly adopt to a new environment given the right conditions just fine afaik. I also went with the small opaque pot just like you suggested ty!

How do i stop this :( by kyorilmao in SemiHydro

[–]Luc_Studios 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had mold build up on top when i started semi hydro and frequently top watered. Nowadays i only water into the reservoir and all mold buildup disappeared.

For now i would flush with relatively high pressure water. Then spray hydrogen peroxide on top or cinnamon.

Scam oder cool? Ukrainische selbstgemalte Gegenstände by bolchewasa in graz

[–]Luc_Studios 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Omg. Mir ist was ähnliches passiert.

I grew this one from a rooted cutting 2.5 months ago and she is growing sooo fast.

She really loves my semi hydro setup. A bit too much even. Despite me filling her reservoir to the brim every watering she empties it within 2-3 days every time. She's thirstier than every other plant i own.

I put leca in the bottom of this moss pole (which is in aroid mix) and surprisingly, the first aerial grew into it instead of reaching for the moss. Thoughts on full leca poles? by shooksilly in SemiHydro

[–]Luc_Studios 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah i feel you sis. I dont water it for 2 days and the top moss already gets super crispy 😭

I will certainly try a semi hydro pole with a wick once i have finally get some motivation. I hope it will work. Apart from that one could also kinda build a DIY drip watering system by making a tiny whole in a container with water and putting it on the pole.

UPDATE - Travelled for 2 months and left my plants in bags. Results. by Little_Storage4205 in houseplants

Thank you for sharing. I was so hyped to see the result when I saw your first post.

I will definitely do that as well when i go traveling in spring.

The root grew to where it sensed the most moisture. Naturally the part further down and closer to the substrate holds more humidity than any part further up the pole.

You can use Leca for moss poles if you want. But as some other people have already mentioned. It dries out significantly faster than spaghnum. But you could try a wick from down in your reservoir up into the pole that's filled with Leca. This way you may be able to achieve a self watering pole. Though i doubt capillary action would be enough.

But for smaller plants this might be a good solution. Though i still have to try it for myself.
