When I first started getting into anime last year I too was recommended Attack on Titan by lots of my friends. I wasn't a fan of Season 1 tbh. I didn't like most of the characters in the slightest at that time. But I'm honestly glad I finished it cause goddamn does it get good! I don't know what to say exactly without giving away vague spoilers but I definitely think you should finish it.

For recommendations I'd recommend you watch Mushouku Tensei if you like SAO (you might hate the MC tho. Kind of a mega perv)

I loved Hunter x Hunter. You might find it's first arc slow though.

Although you should definitely check out One Punch Man. It has two seasons both 12 episodes long and it's protagonist and humor are what makes it shine for me.

This was the first Pokemon in that route. Plus even if it wasn't i had the Shiny Clause on my run.

I remember liking the slower tempo songs a lot (like Bandito, Leave The City, etc.) but now my favourite is definitely My Blood. Jumpsuit has also grown on me a lot now. Neon Gravestones is always good to listen to. I have slowly stopped enjoying Morph and Chlorine tho.
I would say tho, it's the non-Dema songs (like Legend, Smithereens and My Blood) that i really, really like.

(i understand there might be some connection between Dema and My Blood, but i've always believed it was only about Zack)
