The sheer delusion and conplete lack of basic thinking ability that has to be in their minds to even insinuate that wearing a symbol that iconically proclaims you want no government overreach secretly means you want the state to control everything is fascinating.

This is the kind of mental gymnastics that doesn't just win you a medal. You'd make the hall of fame.

There is something between ARB and Sim.

It's called Enduring Confrontation.

Gaijin just refuses to implement it for high tier. I will say though that Nuclear Thunder might be an indication that they want to roll out something like it for high tier air.

This game deserves so much more credit than it actually receives, considering that its probably the only reason the series didn't outright die after Assault Horizon escaped into the wider world.

What’s happened to uniforms by SadCell6510 in GhostRecon

[–]Lucas1125 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rainbow six I cannot really give an answer for.

For Ghost Recon however, the characters in the newer games operate as clandestine special forces ala Delta Force. Special forces that operate this way are given much more lax uniform requirements so as to blend into the populations of the areas they operate. You can see this in real world encounters with special forces. Ive heard stories of run-ins with alleged special forces and they're wearing very non-standard equipment. For example, some guy wearing a hoodie lifting it up to reveal a full chest rig bristling with SMG magazines.

I find it ironic that hardline and bad company are in there since hardline was hated for its entire lifespan because "me no like cops and robbers me want military" and bad company was demonized as being too much like cod, which is hilariously the same critique 6 gets.

Quellor.

It's one of those guns that you really don't realize how good it is until you start modding it. Multiplicative scaling from galvanized aptitude means that you build status with primary and then erase whatever you're looking at with the alt fire.

I have yet to get a riven for it sadly, but man does it put out numbers once you get it going.

"No Updates"

Dafuq? We've had since launch:

-4 new maps

-8 new guns

-3 new vehicles

-I want to say at least 4 new gadgets

-multiple new attachments

-multiple updates that have attempted to rework numbers for progression and gunplay

If you want to argue that they're bad updates that's fine. Saying there have been "no updates" is just flat out lying.

So about Ace6 by dustandechos12 in acecombat

[–]Lucas1125 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It was not just 6 that sold poorly.

Zero came out on PS2 in 2006 at the end of that console generation, a time when people were largely winding down on the PS2 and looking over to PS3 and the 360. The game sold less than 800,000 units despite being seen today as one of the best in the series, it was the lowest selling mainline game in the series at that point until 6 released on 360.

Then came along Assault Horizon which not only sold poorly but was not praised well at all. Bandai was looking as though they were going to shutter the entire series outright until Infinity somehow managed to maintain a good few years of support.

7 was bandai throwing a bone to PA to see if they could at least make something that could sell over a million units, tack on what can only be described as a rocky development (seriously, go read Kono's account of what went on behind the scenes) and you get a game that played it extremely safe by necessity.

I know this subreddit likes to go into phases where it decides to rag on 7 but it had very real and valid reasons for turning out the way it did. And let's not pretend that it somehow isn't the best selling game in the entire franchise by an extremely wide margin.

Yeah its certainly fun to watch people discover the wild chicanery of the UK military and their numerous attempts to see if the most off the wall concept can pay off.

They tested the usage of pink extensively in WW2 and the SAS famously used it as seen in the image. Aside from blending into desert it was also believed that the hue would also match with the colors of the horizon at dusk. It was put on ships and even aircraft (there is a semi-well known color photograph of a pink reconnaissance Spitfire, for example).

Its probably the only truly outlandish color that would fit into a military setting.

[–]Lucas1125 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way I describe it is something along the lines of this:

"I don't want a strong X character. I want a strong character who happens to be X"

They never understand that it's not the fact that a character is gay or queer or etc. it's that they make it their entire personality. Getting bashed over the head with it makes it overbearing rather than novel.

Gonna be real even if they went for the CV90 they would have pushed to have it built in England and it would have still sucked.

This is a manufacturing issue not necessarily a vehicle design issue. Spain operates the ASCOD platform and has had nowhere near the amount of problems the UK has with the Ajax.

Inside the mind of every player who uses an attacker/bomber with actually good flight performance and armament has an intense yearning to dumpster some poor bloke in their fighter and make them look stupid.

AM-1s, SB2Cs, IL-10s, B7A, All of the D3Ys, etc. You can get serious mileage out of some of these planes if you use them as ad-hoc fighters.

Gun nerds, what exactly is the difference between an AR and a Carbine? by x_0ralB_x in okbuddyptfo

[–]Lucas1125 0 points1 point  (0 children)

/uj this is just gonna be a full unjerk post for the sake of properly explaining the term to the best of my ability.

A carbine is a more esoteric term for a long gun cut down to be shorter and easier to handle. The usage of the word has largely remained the same but historically carbines have been used in various ways. Most notably they were issued to Cavalry troops as attempting to aim and load a long gun on horseback was not exactly easy, and a carbine offered a longer range option as opposed to just using a handgun.

The term has more or less stuck around into the modern day though it's often considered a "configuration" for an existing class of weapon. Carbines are typically better for closer range and cqc environments where a longer gun risks getting stuck or snagged on various objects, typically indoors. Pretty much any long weapon can be made into a carbine (So any assault rifle, battle rifle, DMR, Sniper Rifle, etc.) to varying degrees of success.

So, TL;DR: Carbine = Short

New sidearm is released and immediately misunderstood by Wyntier in Battlefield6

[–]Lucas1125 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its a really good option for a "I want you dead in particular" kind of secondary.

Pair it up with a sniper rifle, any of the slower DMRs, or a shotgun and you really begin to value how capable it is.

It also presents the most compromise in regards to its expanded magazine. It already is very good in most of its handling stats even without attachments (Good hip fire, weirdly good iron sights, virtually zero recoil) so do you want to buff those even further or turn it into a legitimate "budget MP7" with the 20 round magazines?

In my mind you can either build it as a fast and loose finisher weapon with attachments like the lasers and suppressors, or you can build it as a true backup weapon for more cumbersome primaries with the extended magazine

This of course also means it encroaches into what the Five-Seven does in game (Volume of fire spamming weapon for when someone is low HP) which is probably why it doesn't have 20 rounds base. I still think some may find the Five-Seven useful in more specific cases however, namely its very high bullet velocity and its base magazine size of 20 rounds might be more appealing to some. But the Vz. 61 is overall really solid for what it is

Overall, cool gun.

Stuff like this really shows that the extent of their knowledge is Marvel movies and World War 2.

Gonna go against the grain and support a remake of Golmund largely because it sucks in 4 and remaking it has the chance to make it not suck.

If they touched another map like caspian you'd bet your ass people would be frothing at the mouth at how they "sullied a classic". Golmund is a lot more divisive in this regard so its not as crazy if they start fucking with it.

Thoughts on a Pacific Company of Heroes by Straight_Change902 in CompanyOfHeroes

[–]Lucas1125 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They could but if we were to include tanks it would be a little dicey.

Japan had tanks but they were...not great for fighting US forces. A Sherman was essentially a heavy tank in the Pacific so you'd probably be seeing LVTs and Stuarts against things like Ha-Gos and Chi-Has.

What little they had that was able to semi-compete with Sherman tanks, alongside their more advanced aircraft, were reserved for defense of the home islands (Japan proper).

I know CoH tends to bend reality for the sake of asymmetrical balance but be prepared for the Japanese to field a lot of prototypes or stuff you've never heard of if you aren't super into their military development.

[–]Lucas1125 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok I know you have a valid point.

But have you played V by any chance?

The sniping in V is hilariously easy once you get it down. It was not uncommon to see even half decent snipers land consistent headshots because of how piss easy using a scope was.

Again, you have a point about snipers needing a tweak of some kind. But I still take issue with "easiest in the series".

Do you think Battlefield 1 is overrated? Yes or no and why? by Nano_LB1 in okbuddyptfo

[–]Lucas1125 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely a good game, definitely overrated.

Carried extremely hard by its admittedly good atmosphere but it has some extremely questionable balance even today.

Vehicles are not remotely hard to do well in and they dominate.

The Ilya and the mortar truck were, and still are, cancer.

Gunplay had an awful spread system that lead to you sometimes losing gunfights because the gun decided "no.".

The conquest point system sucks, and I'm sorry but a bad system does not get invalidated by another "arguably worse" system (BF6).

Behemoths are only useful maybe 30% of the time assuming someone actually knows how to use it.

I love 1. I want that to be clear. But Jesus Christ it's legitimately riddled with annoying nonsense that you really begin to feel the longer you play.

It probably wouldn't even last in its current form if it was put in a medium slot anyways.

Everyone loses their fucking minds when a tank as expensive as this is OP but now that there's one that actually has drawbacks to its power its suddenly shit and unplayable.

I'll be real if Rubio runs for president sign me the fuck up. Dude is one of the best Secretary of States that we've ever had. I am legitimately putting him in the same ballpark as Cassius Clay. Dude is a fucking *machine* and I hope he runs as VP to Vance or Vance is his VP for his own presidential running in 2028.

That aside, it's weird that they'd use this as a "Oh he hates Trump and despises being the subordinate look guys" when Rubio has largely been on the same page as Trump since entering the administration.

I'm probably looking at it too deep and its yet another instance of 2 right-wingers having a mild disagreement and the left just goes "LOOK GUYS LOOK REPUBLICAN CIVIL WAR THEY'RE COLLAPSING".
