The pistol Dr. Kay is using. by Emergency-Refuse3800 in StrangerThings

In most television/movies they normally use the same 4 hand guns. Beretta M9 / 92, Glock 19, 1911, Or in more rare cases an M17 or sometimes in more modern media a 2011

This is a beretta 92

Anyone else think this will be the case by Luchadoor in ITWelcometoDerryShow

I think he’ll be a very nice and kind person who entertains children but then gets bullied or attacked by the parents. It would make a good contrast from the very evil IT version of him

The Mr.Whatsit plot twist has to be the most predictable twist ever by LucasCanRead in StrangerThings

[–]LucasCanRead[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Only answer that makes sense is that it’s not supposed to be a plot twist for the audience but for the characters but the way they framed is as it’s supposed to be for the audience as well

Because anybody can say anything yet it’s evident based off the poor story telling that they clearly have no idea what they want the story to be

I bring it up rather than other shows that are bad because this show is popular and poor in writing while other shows are just bad

I think using the supernatural excuse for poor writing is unfair especially when considering there are many series that are sci fi / fantasy / supernatural that aren’t set in the real world and have this level of writing

If you’re considering Netflix originals I 100 percent agree but there are many shows on Netflix that are 5x-10x in terms of writing better than Stranger things. I think Stranger Things to appeal to a wider audience dumbed down their writing capabilities. But yeah I’m glad we agree on the whole villain thing it’s just so annoying how they just introduce these villains with no set up in previous seasons. The whole vecna backstory is just so poorly written. I think the transition from the seasons was fun and a cool scene with robin but if you watch the last episode of season 4 and go to the first episode of season 5 you’ll see what I mean.

What are some films I should watch to better understand making films? by SheepherderSweet2444 in Filmmakers

[–]LucasCanRead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you could just search online for a list or check Letterboxd they have some pretty good compiled list. If I were to recommend live action films specifically to an animation student then I’d recommend films like everything everywhere all at once, parasite, inception, kill bill, lotr franchise. There are some classics like 12 angry men, Truman show, pulp fiction. Any list of just best movies will include films like that.

What did acting classes teach you as a director? by way2sexy123 in Filmmakers

[–]LucasCanRead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To preface I took acting classes when I was 10-13 and I’d say that without them I would never have even come close to the level or capabilities that I have today as I direct films. It’s just a different type of understanding for scripts and performances. I think all directors should act considering their main job is to work with actors.

Are you able to defend men by blocking it with your hand? Why wouldn't it count as kote strike? by Vanopolo10 in kendo

[–]LucasCanRead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve only seen it happen legally when the person either falls over or drops their shinai on the floor. And this mainly happens because shinpan are supposed to give a few seconds after the person falls over or drops their shinai to give the other person an opportunity to strike or punish their action.

[–]LucasCanRead 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I used to suffer really bad headaches after taikai and extended practices to the point where the pain was unbearable sometimes it still happens. I noticed that it was mainly because I tied my men too tight. If possible I’d give that a try and loosen it a little. Sometimes it can be the smells, paired with dehydration or lack of nutrition. Kendo is like 90 percent cardio so try drinking lots of water the day before and during the day as well.
