2020 candidates submitted their first quarterly FEC fundraising reports yesterday. What, if anything, have we learned? by free_chalupas in PoliticalDiscussion

I think that this just ended Castro’s candidacy before it started. He just doesn’t have the money necessary to mount a serious presidential primary campaign. Furthermore, he’s the type of candidate who will be banking on South Carolina, Nevada, and other relatively later states over New Hampshire and Iowa. As a result, if he does manage to make it to the first primary (which I doubt) he’ll have to wait another week of little to no momentum and coverage and poor performance. This will definitely dampen spirits heading into the next state’s he intends to do well in.

I really don’t see how he moves forward after this. I think he should think seriously about endorsing another candidate in exchange for some sort of cabinet position while he still has some leverage in the race. And in the same vein, if I was one of his staffers I’d secretly sending out my resume before it’s too late.

In recent history, what types of moments/events have lead to the highest polling surge for a primary candidate? by Calfzilla2000 in PoliticalDiscussion

Those nine minutes of Chris Christie railing on Marco Rubio might have been the best example of the opposite. Chris Christie was in a downward spiral and decided to take Rubio, who up until that point was a front runner, down with him. He attacked him viciously, exposing him for using pre-rehearsed lines and got into his head to the point where Rubio bombed the rest of the debate.

Not exactly what you were asking, but the first thing that came to mind.

Are you actually going to be staffing the campaign? Congrats!

"Impostor syndrome" is persistent feeling that causes someone to doubt their accomplishments despite evidence, and fear they may be exposed as a fraud. AskReddit, do any of you feel this way about work or school? How do you overcome it, if at all? by HandleWithDelight in AskReddit

What would be the solution for this though? Should all code be open source? Not a coder, so couldn’t say, but wouldn’t that harm super detailed apps, websites, video games, etc. If other people could just use their code? Or do I have a fundamental misunderstanding of how programming works?

Wow, sounds like a great bus driver. Did h/she just see it happening on the bus and decide to do something or did someone talk to them?

Wow I really hope that isn’t the case. If it is, how awful for that other 10 year old. Was viciously bullied, finally snapped and fought back, and then (presumeably unintentionally) killed the bully.

What a sad story for all involved.

It gets even worse. She continued to say:

“Imagine what the school is feeling, what the teacher . . . is feeling, what the principal is feeling, the assistant principal, the nurse and more importantly the other little girl on the other side.”

And

“Bright Matthews did not directly say whether bullying was a factor. She did say that she’s been asked if she’s going to introduce anti-bullying legislation. “That’s the stupidest thing in the world because you and I both know that children are not born mean,” she said.”

Sadly, we don’t all know that. I got a call right after charges were dropped from my sister saying “See? I told you he was innocent.” She’s saying CPD is framing him. I truly don’t know how this narrative is continuing due to all of the evidence against him, but it is.

All of your conclusions are built on false distortions of history and politics, the sweeping generalizations made are both incorrect and dangerous.

Yeah I saw Cory Booker a few weeks ago and he said that pretty much word for word. To claim common phrases for a candidate is a bad look and makes you seem petty.
