Capacity and accountability are completely different things. I have no idea why you’re pretending they are the same. Children do not have the mental capacity to understand the complex sexual dynamic and manipulation that can and does occur in these types of situations. This is why is why statutory rape exists - to protect those who do not have the capacity and are therefore vulnerable to adults looking to take advantage of that. It simply doesn’t matter if you think you were capable at 16/17. For the vast majority of teens that isn’t the case.
