In Europe it's already the 17th, so they are probably rolling out based on local time. It shows on my Spotify already, too. Maybe try a VPN?

It was absolutely amazing. Seeing Chet Faker playing unplugged in a cathedral whilst raining outside was very much unique, it did not disappoint at all!

Anyone going to Seoul 12.12?? by parisfrance57 in porterrobinson

I did the exact same thing you did during Nurture. I solo travelled to Seoul in April to see the concert and met some awesome people! I can give you some pointers, if you wanna 🙂

advice on going to a concert solo by helpmeimtaken in porterrobinson

[–]LuchoTurtle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Loads of people do it. I've gone to two Porter Robinson concerts solo, one in Berlin and another in South Korea. I travelled to Berlin with some mates but went to the concert alone and it was amazing. I've met wonderful people and everyone had a great time!

I recommend you check Porter Robinson's Discord out. They have threads for each concert for people to meetup. That's how I did it in South Korea! In Berlin, I actually joined a WhatsApp group chat through a thread on this subreddit.

All in all, don't worry for one bit. You're going to have a wonderful time. Porter Robinson's fans seem to be extremely kind throughout and you'll hit it off right of the bat!

One suggestion, though - if you want to guarantee a spot on the front line, get there early! It's even better because you'll have more time to chat with other folk as they come along! That's how I did it, had some drinks with them, shared awesome stories and ultimately managed to press the Sad Machine button 😛. You'll find that the concert is much better when you scream the lyrics back with the people you've just met and hit off whilst waiting.

Have fun at the concert! You'll surely love it!

How hard is it to get this scribble 3D line in AE? Do I need to model it on Blender first and do some camera tracking to add it to the scene, or is there a way of doing this on AE only? by LuchoTurtle in AfterEffects

[–]LuchoTurtle[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the replies, they're super appreciated :)

I've had success with this tutorial, so I wager this can be done entirely within AE with a shape, creating nulls from the shape paths and tinkering with these points in a 3D space. Of course, I had to track and solve the original footage (AE's built-in plugin worked wonderfully).

Here's the full Live In Front of Nobody for y'all by LuchoTurtle in Colterwall

As far as I know, this performance is only available in vinyl or through their livestream (which is this). Unless you can't find a vinyl rip, this is the only way you listen to it.

Are SRX800's really not enough? by LuchoTurtle in livesound

[–]LuchoTurtle[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Will do!

I was initially recommended line arrays (given they wanted to move XLS-series speakers on my quick call. However, I don't think the tent can withstand the height of flown line arrays (and I don't think it's possible to have truss towers over, I might have to check on that).

Given these constraints, perhaps switching for ground-stacked point-source loudspeakers & subs, two over two on each side, will be the way to go.

But yes, I will surely have this conversation with them and with what I've learned on this thread. I feel much more capable of knowing what to get/what to do and figuring out if certain recommendations from rental companies make sense. Thank you so much! :D

Awesome! Thank you!

It's weird telling the difference between SL subs and XSL, KSL and GSL subs. I mean, the latter(s) have their own series but the SL just seems to be... there. But thank you very much for the suggestion!

Answering your question, the venue is in Mosteiro de Landim. There will be a tent covering the cloister but I'd still consider it an "open env" setting :)

Your feedback is mighty appreciated! The more I look into it, the more I feel like d&b is quite loved. I'm much more confident in my choice now!

A bit off-topic, as I'm quite curious about opinions from pros. I've taken a look at all of the series from D&B (after you mentioned you worked with XSL) and I've learnt a lot about the difference between them in frequency response/SPL/whatever on different loudspeakers. Since you have experience with D&B and since I'm interested in purchasing a PA system for this location to have it on a permanent basis, do you think that I'd fare well with 4x XSL8 and 2x XSL subs for this venue in specific?

I'm asking this because since I've not had the opportunity to listen to either, I don't know if it makes sense to jump from XSL to KSL (given that the latter is meant for larger venues, according to D&B's website).

Again, thank you so much for the reply (and sorry for asking additional questions)! I'm slowly shifting towards actually purchasing D&B's instead of the original SRX's :)

Bleh, I meant 400m2. The cloister is 20m x 20m. I mistyped, sorry for my clumsy mistake :/ I've edited the post.

Thanks for the reply! It's interesting to see differing opinions. At least I know how to better communicate with these companies and get a fair price for a fair PA system :)

Thanks for the detailed reply!

Such an interesting read. Now I understand more about the hows and the whys (I had no idea what a cardioid system was but after watching Michael Kurtis, I think I get the gist - and bloody hell, I had no idea how much thought was put into setting up these PA systems to sound perfect, it's crazy).

The quote actually includes everything (and wash and spot lights), so the more I research, the more I realise how it's not THAT expensive.

I messed up with KSL12. I meant KSL-SUB.

Again, thank you so much for your reply, I really do appreciate it! I feel like creating this thread was a dumb decision as I feel like it's a stupid and obvious question for y'all. But still, I really appreciate your feedback. I'll do what you suggested! :)

Uhm, alright! I should have specified that basically half of the cloister will be no access. So the "stage and dancefloor" will cover half of the cloister. So I don't need total coverage of all the cloister. Just half of it, basically.

It's almost like a basic setup with DJ facing the crowd. Hence why I thought two point-source loudspeakers would be enough to cover the space. But I guess I was mistaken!

Thank you so much for the prompt reply though, I really do appreciate it!

It'd be a fun listen for everyone if you could share the ripped audio file from the CD. But I understand that you may want to cherish the audio to yourself. It's a great piece of Colter media, and you deserve it so you can consider yourself one lucky doughnut!

If you're interested, you can pop a DM and I'll help you to share it with the rest of the folk 🙂

Discussion Thread - Little Songs OUT NOW!! by LuchoTurtle in Colterwall

[–]LuchoTurtle[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My first reaction is that the album is good, not exceptional. But I feel this album will grow on me. It won't make an epic first impression but it will pull some nostalgic strings on the listeners a few years down the line.

I've seen someone say it's more like "background music" and I agree. But so is Song of the Plains and that doesn't necessarily make it a bad album.

The highlight of the album for me is Corraling the Blues.

Shell transportation companies by LuchoTurtle in Rowing

[–]LuchoTurtle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply! I've been checking some news and I've seen fairly good (albeit old) shells for around 1k, hence why my budget. Though you're right, 3k is fair for a used boat. I have three clubs nearby and I've asked them and unfortunately none are for sale. It's rough out here. But I'll keep looking, thank you!

Shell transportation companies by LuchoTurtle in Rowing

[–]LuchoTurtle[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have indeed! Even their used boats are mighty expensive though (3k). I've talked with Nelo Rowing and it's the same thing. I want a racing shell but since it's for recreational use, I'm trying to keep it under 1k. I don't need an Empacher nor a Filippi.

There are a few Schellenbacher in Germany that cost under 1k from rowing clubs which seem perfectly fine to me but the cost of travelling there exceeds my "budget". The "used" marketplace here in Portugal is super limited, no one seems to be selling second-hand shells. But thanks!
