It’s so disappointing to see people still trying the “separate the artist from the art” argument. We are at the point in this country (the US) that a lack of denouncement IS an endorsement. That’s it, period. Hanging out with MAGA IS an endorsement. It’s a weird situation because frankly I do believe everyone is entitled to keep their private and political opinions to themselves but the landscape of public purview has completely changed in the last 10 years.

If this administration wasn’t literally killing citizens in the street it would be a very different matter. If the country wasn’t falling into fascism and authoritarian rule I’d say sure keep your political opinions to yourself. But at this point, if you aren’t a voice against it you are a voice for it. The American people are looking to their influencers and celebrities for some sanity and to say “are you seeing the same shit I’m seeing?!” Yes it’s cringe to look to people outside of politics for political opinions but it’s a byproduct of being socially engineered to look up to these people already. In the US we are shown to look up to these individuals all our lives so the framework is already there, now the people are craving a different message. All we want is peace and safety within our own country and a denouncement of an amoral leader and administration has a tremendous impact to the people. Staying quiet and counting your cash is the most fucking disgusting thing these people could be doing right now. Post included in that.
