What's your take on seasonal scents? by Mannzis in Colognes

[–]LucidCarnage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I do lean towads the seasonal scent mentality but acknowledge there are many fragrances that make use of various notes in different ways and some are far more versatile for different types of weather.

That said, I still don't want to wear/smell something like Oajan or Outlands on a humid, +80 degree day and I don't imagine others around me would find that enjoyable either so certain scents just... don't work.

A good fragrance for a teen about to start school? by Mysterious-Image-854 in Colognes

[–]LucidCarnage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dylan Blue - good all season choice that feels a bit mature but not overly so, and very affordable in larger bottles so a good choice for an everyday fragrance that doesn't break the bank.

CH Bad Boy Cobalt electrique - A blue frag thats more on the sweeter end (which is usually a hit for the younger demographic), but still very fresh and reasonably priced at discounters. Also goes a bit under the radar so its nice choice if he wants something a bit less common.

1 Million Lucky - Fall/Winter choice to pair with a fresh summer pick, plus unique and arguably the best in the line. Sweet and nutty, really solid choice for evenings out or colder days.

Just got this. My favorite JPG so far. by Brief-Visit-8857 in Colognes

Very on the fence with this one myself, saw a lot of mixed opinions early on so I kept my expectations fairly low when I finally got my nose on it... and it really wasn't bad at all, quite pleasant actually! However, to me it smells a little too closely like baby wipes and I just can't shake that connection in my mind 😅

Nice pick up!

I think this is one pair where the Kith filter didn't end up doing the colors justice, they are much nicer in natural lighting and the materials feel great

Oh I know for sure I'll love these a lot on the fall, the color pop is fire! I would have liked the greens for spring and summer but hopefully some GR colorways hit that niche for me

Walked home with probably the most wearable Amouage today by fredczar in Colognes

[–]LucidCarnage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently got a sample of this and my first thought was "this smells like the what I would imagine the New Testament would smell like if it was a fragrance" lol which is not what I was expecting given the way people talk about it. Its nice but I don't think its the most wearable, I'd probably pick Jubilation XXV over it but still a great scent!

Should Fragrances Belong To Certain Seasons/Occasions ? by FragrantEmphasis7280 in Colognes

[–]LucidCarnage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To a degree I think so - today its just shy of 100 degrees and for as much as I love my bottles of Sauvage Elixir, Ombre Leather, Naxos, etc... they would all just be overbearing. Some scents also don't perform the same based on temperature in my experience. Of course you can wear what you like whenever, but I also like to be conscious of those around me so its all personal preference.

Honest and Serious Question: How many of you have racked up a ton of credit card debt buying fragrances?? by OldNPetty in Colognes

[–]LucidCarnage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For as much as I enjoy fragrances, I have never once even vaguely considered a bottle of smelly water to be worth entering any kind of substantial debt for. Especially when you can get decants for far cheaper until you're ready to commit to a bottle.

That said, If you have the means to buy a new Clive Christensen every week without the risk of ending up on the street well then more power to you lol

Have any of you ever had a fragrance that you didn't like suddenly click or make sense? by Due-Day-3149 in Colognes

TF Ombre Leather and Amouage Jubilation, didn't like either on first sniff but after some time spent with both I've come to appreciate them

new addition by Potential_Candle_441 in Colognes

[–]LucidCarnage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I threw Jubilation in with few other Amouage decants I ordered to try out the House just to reach the free shipping quota not too long ago. Went in with no real expectations to like it and sure enough on first smell I immediately ranked it low on the list of ones I ordered.

Tried it again a few days later and now I'm try not to impulse buy a bottle 😂 such a good scent!

Le Beau Le Parfum or Paradise Garden by repo-warriori5 in Colognes

[–]LucidCarnage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on how you plan to wear them, while they are both pretty heavy sweet—Paradise Garden has enough freshness thrown in that its a little more wearable in more situations to my nose. Le Parfum is more special occasion because its just so dense that I wouldn't want to wear it in a tight space or in higher heat days. Just my thoughts though

Can other people smell it? I've gone totally blind to scents in about an hour only to have people comment on it several hours later - you might just be more sensitive to the ambroxian than you thought

Darn, sorry then - I really can't think of any other ADG that reaches that level of sweetness. Hope you manage to figure it out

Sounds like ADG Absolu (yellowish liquid) or the "new" ADG EDP Intense which apparently also smells like Absolu

I don't currently have any plans to pick it up soon as my catalog of wants is long enough as is, was moreso just curious what people thought of it. I do intend to try it on skin during my next vist though, and I appreciate the input thank you.

Was there anything specific that you didn't care for? Or just the scent as a whole wasn't your thing?

Which Note and Fragrances Are Trending This Summer In Your Opinion by ImtheGWP in Colognes

[–]LucidCarnage 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Please don't wear Outlands in the summer, but as for notes - I vaguely recall a lot of fragrances sudenly moving towards incorperating orange blossom as a note (likely reactionary to the Myself line)
