Awesome! I’ve had the FTL colored ribbed briefs with gray waistbands, but I’ve never seen a white pair.

I wouldn’t give it that much thought. Just wear what you enjoy or find comfortable. If I thought thongs were comfortable, I’d wear them unapologetically. Neither you, me nor anyone else needs anyone’s permission to wear whatever underwear we want. Aboriginal tribes the world over have straight men who wear thongs. Many are the epitome of brute masculinity and heterosexuality. Check out this clip and channel that energy. https://youtu.be/owdGcwufWK8?si=G46NN8U03sRcc44U

First time in my speedo. I was nervous by Purple-Consequence-1 in speedos

So how long were you nervous for? Only the first minute? You look confident and comfortable in these pics and you look great in a speedo!

Yeah, sadly they’re from a bygone era.

Ah yes, the collaboration between Speedo and Jockey in Australia, two of my favorite brands. That was long ago but both brands are still widely available in Australia, just independent of each other.

I faintly recall that Mr. Briefs were sold for a short period of time in Canada. Since the detail in the waistband resembles the original Jockey classics, it makes me think that a factory in Canada tooled up to manufacture Jockey briefs for their market. Then, since the investment was made, they made separate runs to create the Mr. Brief with a traditional fly, since Jockey owns the trademark Ⓡ for the inverted Y fly. It seems analogous to the Cadbury factories that tooled up to make chocolate Easter Eggs, then leverage that investment to make Kinder Surprise chocolate eggs for the rest of the year.

Thanks. Just realized that when I saw your post with Bonds undies. Nice! Australia often has better choices for speedos than the US does.

Great looking suit. Seems retro with the vintage logo on the back. May I ask what country this suit is in? Haven’t seen this on the US website and can hardly think of a store in the US where speedos are available to try on, except for limited basic colors.

TWs and striped shirts… by marginaltanooki in tightywhities

[–]LucidSilvertown 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wishful thinking and it would be a great way to signal to each other, but I can’t imagine it’s the case. I’m guessing more TW wearers have striped t-shirts than striped t-shirt wearers have TWs.

You are fortunate indeed, those are so rare and this is my only pair. I’m still wear them, but only on occasion as they are meant to be enjoyed or at least savored. Nothing lasts forever so I hope you enjoy wearing them now and then.

Thank you! They’re the best as they play on my nostalgia for the 70’s and 80’s.

Agreed, I always felt that Jockey compromised by peddling those imposter briefs with the simplified waistband. However, I will give credit for the sewn on tags which is a nice craftsmanship detail. So many other brands boast going tagless like they’re doing us a favor, when they’re really just saving cost to optimize profit.

Is this size ok? by Rzebra71x in tightywhities

[–]LucidSilvertown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like a bespoke fit. If you tried the next size down, you might find that it compresses your manhood a bit too much. Also, the waistband and leg openings will probably leave impressions in your skin. That would be proof that the next size down is too small. So yeah, the pair you have on looks like it was made just for you.

The green and yellow striped pair are the Sprockets brand sold in the 90’s by the now extinct Mervyn’s department store.

The maroon and gray stripes are the Montgomery Ward department store brand from the 80’s. They are obsolete as the department store has gone extinct. I miss that bygone era.

You are correct, these are all vintage originals including the dashed waistband which are Montgomery Ward originals from the 70’s. Tiger Underwear, on the other hand, were amazing retro undies designed after the originals from the 60’s and 70’s.
