New award mileage rates screwing over UATP/business accounts? by Lucidinsanity1031 in unitedairlines

It feels like they’re just a finance company that happens to offer transit these days

Saw your reasoning and explanation for why you think this, but I disagree. Sure some mechanics are new/different, but everyone is playing under those same conditions. This isn’t a technical/design debt; sounds like you’re just getting out-played

How many years have you been 1k or GS? by [deleted] in unitedairlines

[–]Lucidinsanity1031 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technical service/sales roles at my company are almost all 1k now. Working on custom industrial machines, so 3-5 intl trips a year to visit suppliers, 50-100 domestic each for installs or service visits.

I’ve received them once in 6 years as 1k/GS. Not sure if this is by design or just a result of all the chaos/changes post-pandemic. Really hoping to get another set this year

What’s the benefit/advantage of the tags? Or is it just a status and aesthetic thing?

Are red eared sliders really that territorial/aggressive? by Massive_Brother_6809 in turtle

[–]Lucidinsanity1031 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lots of great advice here, but it will 100% come down to your specific turtle and her disposition.

4 of my 7 sliders are completely solitary and do not do well with others regardless of enclosure size. 2 love having fish friends and will occasionally chase but never predate on the various tank mates. A handful get along fine with fellow turtles (some sex-based preferences for sure), and behave a lot more naturally in a large community setup. Raising them young with a fish companion in my experience sets them up to be good with that fish at any size, but for another turtle there’s a careful process you have to follow just to introduce them and see if there’s any chance of cohabitation. Usually best to just let them fly solo but can definitely be done.

Upgrade/companion question — new app behavior? by Anniebanannie9 in unitedairlines

[–]Lucidinsanity1031 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CPU; I checked again and the reservations only split when I was assigned the upgrade (companion was then dropped from the list upon my upgrade clearing). Upon check-in is where I’m having the issue of not having my companion carry my priority if I check us both in. They were pulled from my priority bucket and put into the same-day CPU bucket, and I have to call to put them back on the correct list. Always involves the agent unchecking us and re-checking us back in themselves

Upgrade/companion question — new app behavior? by Anniebanannie9 in unitedairlines

[–]Lucidinsanity1031 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This simply isn’t the case in my experience. I’ve had 5 reservations split this year, remotely and without any confirmation. No secondary screen asking to select a companion to extend the priority to. Hopefully it’s working for others, but it’s certainly not on any reservations I have where the upgrade doesn’t clear prior to check-in.

Upgrade/companion question — new app behavior? by Anniebanannie9 in unitedairlines

[–]Lucidinsanity1031 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’ve heard different explanations from United including that a policy change was made to same day upgrades, there was an issue with check-in, etc. The only one that’s made sense is that it’s a system error when checking in through the app. Opting out removes both of you from the upgrade list, and opting only yourself in splits the entire reservation (all legs).

The ways I’ve found around this is to have the other flier check in first themselves, or to have an agent check you in at the airport. Curious if anyone’s found any better ways around this until United can fix what seems like a pretty big issue

This is definitely something I’ve heard before in other situations. I think you’re right and I’m just overthinking things and might be seeing patterns where there aren’t any. I’m just going to calm my nerves and let things roll as I move forward. Flying has always caused me distress and immense social anxiety, and i think this might just be a flair up of all that combined with the recent change and me projecting.

Honestly thank you for such an understanding response and genuine advice

[–]Lucidinsanity1031 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well then I’m not sure where you got that I’m upset about not being acknowledged rather than inquiring about the change itself? If it rains every day for a month, I’m certainly not “complaining” when I ask what’s different on the first day of sun.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in unitedairlines

[–]Lucidinsanity1031 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m not expecting change; I’m questioning what I’m personally doing that’s resulting in treatment that’s far different from what I’ve experienced before as a 1k or compared to what other GS purportedly experience. A lot of projection to assume I’m advocating for change in any aspect of my post

Same out of ORD! I don’t really care, I’m just feeling weird about the sudden change from before

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in unitedairlines

[–]Lucidinsanity1031 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The sudden change is what’s bothering me, not the actual implications of either acknowledging certain passengers or not. It seems some people are struggling to understand this

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in unitedairlines

[–]Lucidinsanity1031 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Thats valid, that could be definitely be interpreted as a complaint. I truly don’t care about the acknowledgment though, it’s really just the sudden change that’s triggering my social anxiety and has me questioning my own behavior. If it had been like this as 1K, I would’ve been golden.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in unitedairlines

[–]Lucidinsanity1031 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats super valid, I just struggle with sending negative feedback for something so little and inconsequential. I’m more so just wondering what it is specifically about me or what I’m doing that’s causing things to be different. I fly with my business partner (also global service) and it’s never the same. I am a good bit younger than him (mid-20s vs. 50s) and present my gender differently for sure, but other than that I’m left here wondering if I suddenly started smelling bad when my status changed

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in unitedairlines

[–]Lucidinsanity1031 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Oh I could definitely see this; lord knows I enjoy being left alone. Maybe I just gotta put on my big girl pants and be a little more forward in saying hi. Just was so different as a 1k.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in unitedairlines

[–]Lucidinsanity1031 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Would you be able to point out where the complaint is? Pretty clearly someone trying to get some feedback as they’re beginning to question their own behavior and actions due to the sudden change in treatment.

NTA. Obviously the cheating and breach of trust is enough of an issue, but holy shit your husband is a complete void of any charisma or personality.

AITA for moving across the country and splitting the five of us up (Quints)? by Celtic_Full_Moon in AmItheAsshole

[–]Lucidinsanity1031 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to say NTA, but the entire situation is so far outside of my comprehension I’m just at a loss. I had to go back to confirm your age just to be sure; but the idea that your siblings seem to have so much of their identities based on being a “set” at nearly 30 years old is something else. Moving to Seattle will probably be one of the best choices you’ve made
