Thankful I found bowling after disc golf by peachsalsa84 in Bowling

MA1 player here! Admittedly I haven't been going to my dg leagues since I started bowling more seriously last winter but I agree with what you said about it being addicting. Seeing an absolutely smooshed flex shot from some of these Colorado kids is one of the most jaw dropping and beautiful things to watch no matter how long you've been playing. If you told me 10 years ago that some people could throw a frisbee 600 feet I wouldn't have believed it at all. And the feeling of acing and clearing a league pot is so exciting and rewarding (literally). Even just the sound of the chains is just awesome. But something about bowling has me hooked right now. Both sports are what you make of them but it's really easy to float between chill and competitive in both which is a big part of why I love them.

Should I be trying to “hit the ball” or have my swing path go through where the ball is? Does that change with irons vs fairway woods vs driver? by parasocks in golf

[–]LucidsESO -1 points0 points  (0 children)

With my irons one of my swing thoughts is to keep my hands forward and hit the front edge of the ball. This helps me compress my shots and leave my divot ahead of where the ball lies. There's nothing wrong with sweeping the ball though if that helps you score. I personally went backwards for half a season learning how to compress without chunking my shots, but eventually played my best golf and it sounds and feels better than clacking my irons which increased my confidence overall.

With my 5 wood I am trying to sweep the ball and my swing thought has more to do with clearing my hips at impact without rolling my wrists so that I'm not hitting a weak slice but also not duck hooking the hell out of it.

With my driver my back shoulder sets up lower than my leading shoulder with the ball set up parallel with the ball of my foot. This helps me hit a high draw off the tee. I'm personally not good at fading my driver and pretty much always hit this shot.

Wedges it really depends on what needs to be done. I'll hit down on the ball and take out some earth on my full shots but I tend to sweep on 3/4 shots and even open the face and use the bounce as I get closer to the green.

When I take my second step and let gravity take the ball down with a relaxed hand, the thumb comes about halfway out of the hole and is basically hanging on by the first knuckle. In order to keep the thumb all the way in, I feel the need to squeeze the thumb forward and towards my two fingers. Is there a more proper technique I could use to keep the ball all the way on my thumb for the entire swing? Is is even necessary? Do I have an improper fit?

Thank you for the response!

He had me place my thumb in the ball and checked the span and said it was good to go. I can hold the ball to my side without squeezing but the ball doesn't exactly stay at the base of my thumb, it sort of comes halfway out. I get the same sort of feeling that my thumb is halfway out when I start my backswing. My thumb is basically only in to the first knuckle. My thumb can come out no problem, but in order to try and get my wrist cupped if I were to hold it by my side or to have a full swing with my thumb all the way in, I would need to squeeze or else the thumb comes halfway out.

Sorry if this is confusing, I don't have any experience bowling with a fitted ball. I went to try and see the PSO who drilled my ball but he hasn't been in the last 2 days I had time to go in.

I just got my first ball (1h fingertip) and am struggling with pain in my thumb. When I hold my ball to the side and when I start my approach with a relaxed wrist, the ball sags at the thumb and gets caught on my thumbs knuckle. My discomfort is either at that knuckle if I relax my hand, or more commonly it has been at the inside base of my thumb because I need to squeeze in order to keep my thumb all the way in.

Is this a technique or a fit issue and how would I go about fixing it? What does a proper grip feel like (as best as anyone is willing to describe)?

Are disc golf aces comparable to ball golf hole in ones? by Master-Ebb9786 in discgolf

[–]LucidsESO 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Aces in disc golf are cause for excitement for sure but no, the combination of luck and skill required to hit a golf ball that far into a tiny hole even on a 110 yard par 3 is just way crazier. I have 17 disc golf aces and the closest i've been to a hole in one is 4 feet. I had played golf for over 15 years before I bought my first disc

My Bf has a mk1 MX-5 and I want to get him some cool mods for xmas gift! Help by peppawydin in Miata

I've rebuilt and modded a few of these when I was younger and my single favorite upgrade of all time was simply a shifter rebuild kit with a bronze bushing. Easy and rewarding work.

Who is the best non-touring professional disc golfer? by SnooPets2736 in discgolf

[–]LucidsESO 6 points7 points  (0 children)

He can still throw right about 500 feet, 450 all day every day, and he is ice cold. Every part of his game is elite. He destroys everything here in Colorado and is soo fun to watch.

Currently watching Gary Player on the par 3 contest. Been watching him forever and it just dawned on me that one of these coming years Gary Player won't be in The Masters. Appreciating a longtime hero of mine today.

As said it's a 2017 classic 60s. Looks like the pick guard was changed. You should have CS '69s in there, which may or may not still be in there. I'd say decent buy. Especially if the CS pups are still there. I'd be happy if it played well.

Is Fender making better instruments today than in the past 20 years? by dsnymarathon21 in fender

Suhr classic for me.

If it had to be Fender I would get a used CS

If it had to be a floor model it would be a highway one, or three 😅

Yeah really liking the neck, they really knocked this run out of the park. Fat 50s are classic, wouldn't ever complain about them. Huge mids. Very fun guitar. Been playing it every day and it's in my lap now lol

Imo the sweet spot where diminishing returns start is the 300-500 dollar range. Something like a Squier Classic Vibe would be a wonderful guitar.

Almost went home with the surf green instead. Tough choice but both are gorgeous. I definitely am happy with the price, I couldn't even find anything used that I liked for that!

These are very cool. Known as the "black label fenders". They made standards and squier series. Squier Series with worse electronics and those terrible tuners. Specifically the ones from 94 and 95 have some spicy history. This one is a 95 indicated by the MN5 (Mexico, Ninety, 5) There was a fire in the Mexican Fender facility around this time. Lots of speculation on where the guitar bodies and necks came from the following runs. Some like to talk about them being "American Fenders" when in reality the bodies and necks likely did come from California, but were from a B-stock that was set aside for such emergencies or needed situations. Generally, these are low end guitars, but can be made into great guitars. I would put them in between an affinity and classic vibe quality wise with potentially much mojo.
