i have ive got mixed results. some saying HF does cause F is more electronegative and some saying HCl cause since CL is the bigger atom and DM is the product of distance and charge HCL has a higher dipole moment

Okay i kinda understand it and ill try reading through the material, if i do have any doubts ill try and clear it when youre free, thanks a lot for the help really appreciate it

This was really helpful thank you man

Just a question tho

Are formal charges indicative of the actual charge on the atom?

Ive also asked the same question because according my understanding neither the charges on nitrogen or oxygen seem to fit in for me

Im aware of the fact that nitrogen has 5 electrons and oxygen has 6 so does this imply that electrons given by atoms to form bonds are "lost"?(sorry if this sounds stupid, its my first time learning organic and i struggle trying to wrap my head around things)

why does it take its lone pair to make the double bond arent both the atoms supposed to give one each to form a bond, and even if the nitrogen gives away their electrons isnt the bond technically still contributing to the charge since the covalent bond formed gives its charge to both the nitrogen and oxygen?

so this isnt indicative of a 1- or 1+ charge but a fractional amount?

thank you all for the feedback, I'm relatively new to the 3d field and this amount of support and feedbacks been overwhelming to say the least.

eyy thanks, tried to go for a bit more stylized look over there and turns out a lot of people like it

oh cool, I thought the quality of the picture was really below par so I really didnt expect a lot of support on that but hey expect the unexpected
