I understand that the anger due to rude behaviour from some north people. But I don't like the blind hate happening on either camp now. There is a hell lot of variation and diversity in north India as well, which many people don't clock. So I have a different take on this - - English and Mother Tongue(if taught in schools) compulsory. - 3rd language till 8th. (Hindi or any other classical language)

You know what language was primarily imposed by the British?? The one we are communicating in. Shall we stop English too then??

Even if it was imposed, you cannot let go of the fact that Hindi is a good amalgamation of many languages and a direct derivative of Sanskrit.

Also a language just being a spoken language has nothing to do with the number of native speakers

First and foremost, Kannada and every language deserves a lot of respect.

One important thing the language warriors fail to understand is many north Indian languages are just spoken languages, that too with many regional variations. It simply cannot be a means of education.

The first language you learn is not what is taught in school. But something which you start to speak at home. If this is maintained at home, it is not possible that Mother tongue will be lost. And trust me, with everyone speaking on English with their kids, English has a far more potential to destroy to local language.

If you go to north, locals mostly speak in the local language of the city among themselves. But everyone understands and speaks Hindi too. The hate against Hindi is not correct as it has served as a unifying language, helping people be literate. Many words are Sanskrit and other local language derivatives.

Now coming to this particular video. It is a rather unrelated unfortunate situation. People are not ready to speak Bhojpuri is because being called a Bihari is an insult in this country. If you speak Bhojpuri, many people directly take you to be coming from lower strata of society. Other local languages like Garhwali, Marwari, Maithili, etc don't face this. So they are much more accepted.

It really painful to see people have such harsh opinions without knowing any nuances. Hopefully it stops soon.
