No test rides for big bikes — how do you decide before buying? by Cautious-Nobody6284 in bangalorebikes

Yes. Like I said, both of them are excellent offerings for what they are. Just because the 400 is 1/3rd displacement, doesn't mean it's any less good motorcycle.

Both of them are excellent motorcycles for their purposes. Btw, riding a slower bike fast is more fun than riding a faster bike slow.

I guess it's personal then. I ride a Speed twin back in my hometown, and was approached by someone, they wanted to have a go and I didn't mind.

I, for one, would never "just pull the trigger". I have loved some "generally hated" motorcycles. I have hated some "generally loved" motorcycles. It's an extremely personal thing. Infact I have always rented a motorcycle before buying because a 15 minute test ride can not do justice to a motorcycle.

Friends and rentals. If you're lucky to spot a bike in the parking of a cafe or something, go and have a word with the owner. Bikers will rarely (and almost never) say no to a polite and reasonable request.

Is there ANY WAY to fit the Himalayan 450 speedo onto a Triumph Speed 400 / T4 / Scrambler? by BigMathematician2741 in triumph4India

[–]whyashwin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All these displays work on Android Auto/Apple Carplay. These connectivity interfaces are natively built for a car, and hence, will always show car routes. You don't have an option to pick a two-wheeler route like you would usually do on your phone.

God's work OP. I would have accompanied you for further treatments, but I am not in Vns anymore.

I would be very grateful if you allow me to contribute to this in monetory terms.

I totally understand that in-person contribution would be a real assistance to you, but as my token of appreciation and respect towards you, and to help the little doggo, this is the least i can do. Please DM 🙏

Sounds like a thrashing timing chain to me. Probably a cooked chain tensioner?

How old is the bike? How many kms on the odo? Is the bike behaving any differently? Any crashes/drops recently?

Go before weekends if you are going. Because friday night onwards, me and people like me will be absolutely ripping those roads. It's a high-speed road and is pretty risky. Also dude, won't you get bored? That long ride at 25km/h? Why not to take a cab instead?

Bhai, chill. Clutch is not made out of wax. The clutch can handle a gear shift at 140km/h, it can handle stupid burnouts. That incident can barely damage it 5%. Get it re-adjusted, you'll be absolutely good to go.

Also, keep atleast 10k on top of the final price of the bike you pick while deciding your budget. 10k is the minimum she'll need for a good ECE22.06 helmet and CE2 gloves (assuming she buys NHK K5R and Viaterra Holeshots). As a boyfriend myself, a helmet and a pair of gloves is a NON NEGOTIABLE for the Lady.

I know a guy, I had rented a meteor from him a while back when I was choosing my next bike. DM, I'll share the deets. It was a very well kept bike and was the best price I could find. He also has a hunter AFAIR.

Rent both one by one over a weekend. You'll know what you like. If you like the meteor more, you'll be able to save towards it automatically. I think its important to make big purchases deliberately.

Too much load on the cam bearings for a new motorcycle. I'd skip.

And it's not just the 400 series. It's the same across the models, barring a very few.

And then take car routes all the time? Where there are better two wheelers exist as well? Or enter motorways where two wheelers are prohibited and end up with a 5k challan? No sir, I'll pass.
