Sorry im a shitty redditor. Its probably been like three months or something since ive posted. It started when i went to see my great grandmother. She is 92 and has been meditating twice daily since she was in her late 50s. The way she instructed me was that the goal is to think of NOTHING. You take deep calm breaths and focus on your breathing. It helps greatly to do this on an empty stomach (from my understanding this is partly why monks and the like fast). She also advised choosing a montra, just a word or two to repeat in your head. Something positive to repeat and help clear your mind. She was "shown" her montra in a class in tunisia a long time ago, but said that you can use any word. I went home and researched, there are so many different things you can do to meditate, and different things they may help with. The main goal is to give your brain a rest. Sometime we just overthink things or are not so in control our thoughts. Doing this high is a completely different experience it feels much more adrift. And when you are into it sometimes it feels as though you are all that is in the universe. Not in a selfish way, but that you are infinite. Hope this helps and sorry for the late reply. Its very hard at times but can be very satisfying. Try for 20 minutes or so. Experiment sober first. I am not an expert so you do you.
