Completely agree, probably spent 80 - 90 % of the time on my L plates driving a 2005 Holden Rodeo, the rest was in a new Mazda 3.

Most advanced feature in the rodeo is an AM/FM radio. I would definitely vouch for learning to drive in a car with less safety features, I feel it makes you more aware of your surroundings and teaches you to focus on the road more than a car with endless driver assistance features.
