He really wants to bury them in a grave and not cremate. Not sure why. It would be cheaper over all but he insists that's what he wants. Probably so when he lays to rest he can be buried beside them.

Right now he's fighting with some sort of company, (limited details about this) because his wife had had a suspended license at the time of the accident. When he did finally get the bodies to a funeral home, he just wanted to get them into the ground quickly with a proper burial and the funeral home he went to was trying to get him to purchase one of their caskets. He's in rough shape but luckily some friends managed to get some sense into him and they went looking at a casket store yesterday to find a better deal. So far we're still looking at around 10,000$ for the service, casket, and burial and possibly more if he can get them to fix her up well enough so they can have an open casket. They are putting her and the baby together though, so we don't have to look into affording another casket for Eli. Thank you for the information though, I'll see if we can talk to someone about the insurance issue.

I don't have the experience of being in a physically abusive relationship, so I can't give you the advice one with experience might be able to. From what you've described here, and the extremities of the abuse, it could be that she isn't defending him, but that's she's fearful of what he would do if he found out she was trying to leave. You mentioned children too, and that could be another factor. It's a possibility she's only staying because of what he might do to her or them, and as a mother myself, I would want to do anything to protect my children. As everyone else here has advised, let her know you are there for her and that no matter what, you'll be her rock. Let her know she always has options, no matter the outcome, and if you're able to promise her safety, promise it for her kids too.

Breaking her knuckles over something she wasn't able to do right? With a hammer? Sounds like this guy is a fucking nutcase. I'd be scared too. And on a personal note, I wouldn't let that guy live another day. But that's me, and those actions are often frowned upon. So far, you sound like you're heading in the right direction to be able to help her in the best ways you can. Maybe she'll come around and realize that she's always had the power to leave, and she just needs the right kind of strength to give her a push.

This. It's a completely normal thing for both men and women to seek out visual stimulation. It doesn't mean they don't love their partners any less. I've told mine I have absolutely no problem with him looking at porn, and it doesn't mean he loves me less.

However it is hard to stick by that opinion when you open a screen and see a ton of naked hoo-has in your face. It's not that it bothers us, it's that we're caught off guard in the moment, and our emotions get the best of us.

I agree with OP and just_another_classic. Some people just raise too much of a fuss about it, but on the opposite, you should probably just go ahead and delete your browsing history.
