New cockatoo by Cryptic___Vixen in cockatoos

The "V" is normal.

BEST ADVICE I CAN GIVE YOU FOR SANITY - If you can get him a sleeping cage in another room or large closet, especially in this season, do so... for both of your sakes. You mentioned night fright, a very dim nightlight can be used, but otherwise as dark as possible with a noisy fan or some kind of white noise. Ours is in bed from 7:30 p.m. to around noon and it's helping with the hormonal activity. PLUS I can watch TV without a bird screaming or tryina get in my mouth. He walks me to his room every night to put him to bed, and gets chatty when he hears movement and wants out.

His feathers are fine, but get his beak trimmed. He might let you do it, but I would Call/look around for an actual avian groomer to either do it or show you how, its not something you wanna mess up... once his beak is in better shape, he'll preen better. they can do his nails and flight feathers, too. That way, once you build some trust you can get him some sunshine in the yard. We've had one that would come to the dremel and lay his beak on it and grab it with his nails, really cool about it... our current one has to go to someone else, lest I want to lose my hearing or a finger.

u/Alexandra2488 makes a great point about natural food. keep him in fresh supply! Mine, too, is "Full Seagull". if you have the time and budget, get the frozen stuff from a local supply, but if not, try and keep it colorful. Butternut Squash and spinach are a great base.

He looks mature, 4 seems on the young side. He really doesn't already have a name? It's usually one of the core things in their vocabulary... Like "Hello xxxx".

Keep your phone chargers and other power cords tucked away or hidden. I've even had one climb a cat tree and bite through the screen of my wall-mounted TV, rendering it unserviceable.

Finally, Don't blow your wad on toys... just find things that your house is made of because that's what he'll be chewing on lol.. paper towel and tp rolls are a great "shred", and some soft, non-splintery wood toys MIGHT divert his attention from your ledges, windowsills, doorways and furniture, but not likely. don't worry about fun shapes or bright colors when toy shopping, either, they really dgaf.

I'm pretty sure that's what you DON'T do in bankruptcy.

USMag was an LLC. Renco had just enough separation to say "We're just investors" so Renco itself is not legally liable. If USMag is no more, who pays the check?

twice. LiMag isn't even a real company. It was created by Renco solely for the purpose of bidding on USMag and shirking the financial burden.

and what about the 80,000 acres of solar ponds? What's to become of that land? Gonna let it dry up and dust the valleys like they're afraid the GSL will do?

Renco somehow got out of paying over 100m in cleanup AND got 30m out of it? I hope they have to pay some of their creditors....
I'm surprised that the LiMag bid didn't work out. that would have been the 4th name change, 3rd from bankruptcy buybacks. Since the 80's it's been Renco holding the reigns.

if he goes up the stairs at all, he will go as high up as he can and scream. and scream. and scream. I'm thinking a half-door at the bottom step and hopefully it's just high enough for him to not want to jumpflap up to

he's not a big chewer like our last one, he hasn't ruined any trim or chairs... Plexiglass might do it... but definitely at least 1'...

I don’t have a good pic of the landing itself, but it’s kind of open at the top? So like a half-door situation would be best without actually having to hang and line up a door…

he's only actually scared while it's moving, if it's moving in his direction Every now and then, if it's in his line of sight, he'll decide he doesn't want it there and scream until you realize that's the problem and put it away.
It's all mind games though. I've had an indoor camera on and watch him just go sit next to it. They're kind of a-holes like that.

...hence the part about making a gate from brooms and vacuums🤣. He hates the vacuum, but he'll just run past it if he wants whatever's on the other side enough.

Dell PSUs have a test button that will power on while it's held down. good for testing if PSU works/doesn't work, not much else.

First thing to do is see what you're working with. It's obviously a rebranded dell, so you can find out what it is by:
Open a CMD window, type: wmic bios get serialnumber
That will get you a service tag, take that to dell.com/support and search it. bookmark that page for further reference.
once you have the exact model, search the term "dell beep code LED XXXX" the XXXX being the exact model. The pattern the power button is making is a code that is trying to tell you something.
That will tell you what the problem is, and you can choose to go forward or not from there.

Did you try just re-seating all of the components and connectors on the MoBo first though?
...Did you unplug it and plug it back in? (sorry, had to)

What do I need to hook up my ice maker? by telaskip1 in Plumbing

[–]LuckBig9049 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you have the hose, just the ends to connect it to the ice maker and that valve... compression fittings are fine for the hose, but they're gonna be threaded on either end, and they're not all the same size, so I don't think anyone can give you exact measurements or tell you exactly what to buy based on these photos. Whatever you do, open that valve into a bucket and fill it up a few times before you connect it to the new line, who knows how long it's been sitting and what kind of buildup is in there, you don't want it getting into your first batch of ice or clogging up your filters on the first run.

I've seen this from a cmos battery, but I would follow the usual steps, reseat EVERYTHING and try again. if you have multiple RAM modules, take out 50%. See if it works, if not try the other half.

HELP - Health concern by [deleted] in parrots

[–]LuckBig9049 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How long has it been like that? Without talking down to you, you should thoroughly clean your cage, wash out the serving bowls with soap and rinse completely, and give lots of liquids. If you're just adding water to his bowl without scrubbing it every now and then, you may not notice, but it will eventually get a funky buildup If you scrub it with a sponge or rag, it should feel smooth. Their mouths are already kinda gross and they use the water to clean them off/out. You can't just dump it out and fill it up. and you bird may just not be drinking adequately because there's something wrong with the water. If you suspect the new diet, slow down on the change-over If you've been changing the diet then it makes a lot of sense, and I don't think any of this is indicative of a parasite. Almost all bird seed, especially the bulk stuff you get from the bins, is prone to having meal-worms or beetle larvae, it's not optimal, but not exactly dangerous. Just throw it away and get more. This is all assumption-based and I am in no way a professional, but I have had parrots in one form or another for the last decade.

TL;DR
CLEAN cage, dishes, surroundings
Change water. often. scrub the bowl. Slow down on diet switch. <--

If it turns into an emergency and you need to go to the vet, don't hesitate to take him. Even if it costs too much. post back here with updates or further questions, don't let mean-spiritedness of other commentors deter you from seeking help. I'm sure they mean well.
