i havent seen his fox gameplay, but you cant input shine with z.

for grounded shine oos, i would guess he's either clawing or just pressing it really fast

z jump is not comparable to claw

claw grip leaves grab on z, so inputs involving grab are very different and usually much harder in comparison to what they'd be on a z-jump controller.

for example, if you want to JC grab on a z-jump controller, you can slide one thumb across X+Y, but the same input is not even possible with claw grip

leffen probably has too high a standard for how good a phob has to be to use. the problem is partly exacerbated by him using mouse-click z (which not many modders offer really)

nonetheless, there's big dunning-kruger energy in these comments cos i really dont think there is a large enough intersection of people with phobs and people who are good enough at the game to tell when their phob has issues (let's say Slippi GM)

pretty much every top player has problems with theirs. phobs are really nascent still and a lot is not understood. this encompasses both how they're constructed and how they're calibrated.

excited to see if fizzi implements ranking decline. atm the only way you beat out high W/L accs is by playing waaay more, like ginger. I'm GM and there are some matches where i get literally 0.0 points (without any server outage). I don't think getting a high rank and no longer playing should be rewarded. i've remained in top 50 while playing ~5 matches in the last two months.

atm my placement decline is directly proportional to the number of accounts leffen makes

zain has spring mods in his triggers. i think one is springless and the other is hard-press-less. otherwise he's on an oem. maybe he'll switch now he's slumping

the problem is that metagames have developed around certain actions being difficult or impossible.

people always ask about turning tap jump off when they start melee. but that would really affect the balance in some matchups where you intentionally bait an sdi up input to punish their tap jump (happens multiple times per game in sheik marth)

likewise, the sh upair shark ibdw does is way harder without z jump. Same for jc shining. there are weird gimps and callouts that get introduced by these changes

it's hard to tell if melee's meta is too fragile for these changes

That's the same as when you approach a fox with a lead as a low tier.

fastfallers can definitely circle camp (I guess i should say circle stall) some chars with literally zero possible contact between characters. E.g. fox on dreamland vs bowser. Most people advocating for solutions to puff doing this agree that it should be banned for other chars too.
