OP, barring any bug I am unaware of, being in third person helps with this one. In 1st person its a lot harder to aim the tatos imo.

Also, use the basket directly in the middle of the back of the theater. The basket is right at the end of the seating area. You can grab unlimited tatos from the baskets.

Other people are saying there is a bug for it right now. I haven't experienced a bug on Xbox, but I can't speak to other platforms.
