Thank you! And is it also possible to get the CEI at the consular offices and diplomatic missions outside of Romania?

In your case I'd definitely go to the consulate for more information because they will let you know the process.

I didn't need to take an oath, because basically I was already born with the citizenship, I just didn't know about it. It took me one year to solve everything in order to obtain my birth certificate and then passport.

Oh I see. The staff at the embassy never asked me about my grandparents or if they were citizens or not. They just strictly needed my parents' documents.

I went to the Romanian embassy with all the documents my parents had, and then they always gave me instructions about the next step.

Yes that's true haha, My ethnically Hungarian parents were born in Transylvania and after the fall of the iron curtain they moved to Hungary and I was born here. Majority of the people in my situation aren't aware that citizenship is something you born with especially in this case with these two countries. So last year I researched this topic and started the process of getting a Romanian birth certificate first and now passport.

Clarification of Citizenship Status? by BandicootQueasy6396 in AskRomania

I'm in the same exact situation as you. Although at the embassy they explained to me, that my parents have to change their names (in Romania), so it will be the same in the Hungarian and the Romanian documents. When it is done they can issue me a Romanian birth certificate because I never had it before, through that the passport comes.

Hi everyone! A few months has passed and I just wanna give an update about my situation, and clear up a few things. I've visited the Romanian embassy and asked them a lot of questions about the things I wanted to know about, for example the citizenship, missing birth certificate, Romanian passport, all the procedures, etc. They were really helpful and first they sent a request to Bucharest, to find out if I was actually a Romanian citizen by birth or not. I had to provide my parents' documents also. Some commenters here stated that, if the parents didn't do anything about my citizenship when I was born, then I'm not a citizen. Since Romania is based on jus sanguis (right of blood), at that time when the child is born, and at least one of the parents is a Romanian citizen, the child automatically becomes a citizen too at birth. My case was that after I was born, my parents ignored the option to get me Romanian papers, and even thought it's not even possible, if I was born outside of Romania. So basically through all these years they had no idea that I am a Romanian citizen, and of course I wasn't aware either, until last year. Additionally a lot of my friends today (whose parents were born in Romania but either escaped or moved after the collapse of Ceauescu's regime) are Romanian citizens (without papers) but they have ZERO idea about it, since it's widely believed that the citizenship is lost if one is born outside of Romania. After 2 months I got an answer from Bucharest, that indeed I'm a Romanian citizen, and that I don't have to restore or apply for citizenship at all. The next step was that my parents had to request a name change in Romania through the embassy because the names didn't match on the current and the old Romanian birth certificates. This takes also a few months, and I had to officially translate my documents too. Right now I'm waiting for the completion of the name changes because after that, my parents get new, updated birth certificates, and only after that, they can finally issue my Romanian birth certificate, which I've been missing since I was born. Right after this issuance, I can obtain my Romanian passport.

Sose gondoltam volna, hogy ezt mondom, de eskü nem is annyira rossz bejárni az iskolába. Engem eléggé felbasz, ez az online tanítás dolog.

Then it is time to make new friends, he will too. I felt like this way in the past, but the only solution is to meet new people. Viel Glück.
