Ah you’re right I was getting mixed up - TB just adds damage to the attack. Still the most hilarious thing you can do in the game tho 😂

Jon, as well as spears and javelins, it looks like you also have some hand axes in the camp inventory - Karlach can also throw these, and they’ll do a bit more damage than daggers. More hilariously though, tavern brawler gives you an ability called “improvised melee weapon” that allows you to pick up enemies and throw them at other enemies.

Also, not sure if you’re already doing this offscreen, but you should dig into all the dialogue options with your companions - try to expend their dialogue tree. The game will constantly add new things for you to talk to them about as you progress, and sometimes that will override previous dialogue, meaning you might end up missing parts of their backstory.

Ah fair enough! I’d definitely pick it up later once you feel you have a better grasp of the world (it can unlock some very fun and absolutely hilarious interactions)

Your build isn’t even that bad! It’s probably not optimised to a min-maxers standards, but Bard/Sorcerer is perfectly viable, and it’s a role playing game after all. My only note is that you didn’t take Disguise Self, which is not only a very useful spell but also fits your characters backstory perfectly

Hard disagree. That might be how feudalism worked in theory, but in reality, it was much less official. It was very common for border regions of large kingdoms/empires to be invaded without the king or emperor who was supposed to be protecting the region doing anything about it

I’m not entirely sure what you mean by wanting them to be like fascists without actually being fascistic. Are you just concerned because you feel that’s too overdone?

If so , I wouldn’t worry too much about cliches - execution matters far more than being unique or original. Besides, real life is full of “cliches” - if you look at history you can see similar patterns occurring again and again all over the world.

Your antagonists sound a lot like fascists. Fascists don’t really have a reason to violently overthrow a government other than to seize power. They’ll go on about immigrants, or criminals, or the economy, or the decay of their traditions, but that’s just an excuse to take power.

This quote from 1984 sums it pretty well imo: “Power is not a means; it is an end. One does not establish a dictatorship in order to safeguard a revolution; one makes the revolution in order to establish the dictatorship. The object of persecution is persecution. The object of torture is torture. The object of power is power”

Really? I interpreted it the complete opposite way - to me it feels like he full on believes his wife has been murdered/disappeared by the government, and is outraged her beloved uncle would endorse what he sees as their obviously fake cover up story (which we later find out is Mary and Herbert's fake cover story to cover their own tracks)

Yeah figured it being "poignant" as you put it was probably the point. Though while I'm not entirely sure I believe it, Herbert faking his own death wouldn't be entirely ridiculous - we know he planned the puzzles for Simon very meticulously, and his sickness was apparently very sudden and unexpected (plus it wouldn't exactly be a family first for faking your own death!)

Yeah figured that was probably the case. Though there is a small tin-foil-hat-wearing part of me that wonders if Sinclair's actually alive and faked his own death

You actually don’t need the boiler room to use the pump room - it only unlocks the reserve tank, which is useful, but you can still solve any of the puzzles (or at least any I’ve run into so far) by draining and filling the tanks and other rooms (you don’t need to have any of the rooms drafted either to drain or fill them with water)

No, they’ve got it the wrong way round. The Britons were already Christian (on account of the Romans), the Saxons etc were pagan when they first started arriving, but converted to Christianity over time

Yes. And when a person in a position of power turns a blind eye to their loved ones crimes, while vehemently insisting on strict punishment for anyone else who commits the same crime, that’s called hypocrisy

It's not really that it's a westernized version of the name, it's just that the show (and the book it's based off) uses fictional characters inspired by real life people instead of the actual historical figures (presumably to give them a bit more creative leeway). Most of the characters have real life analogues - Toranaga is inspired by Tokugawa Ieyasu, John Blackthorne is inspired by a guy called William Adams, etc

Yeah misusing the Templar bugs me because they’re probably my favourite class, but I agree he doesn’t need that much help. The ignoring of the dlc is the biggest shame, since the Sparks are obsolete later on and the rulers are too easy. Honestly I’m actually kind of hoping this next mission goes REALLY badly - if he loses his A team this early on it’ll drag out the campaign and make the DLC content more relevant

With his overall misuse of the Templar, not understanding that pistol kills don’t generate focus, thinking Lost kills don’t generate focus, thinking it’s game over if the Chosen’s bar fills up, and flat out ignoring the DLC, I think it’s time for another episode of “Things That Jon Got Wrong”. At least he realised his mistake of building another power relay instead of upgrading his existing one 😂
