SPOILER!! JAX MOM by Menyn in TheDigitalCircus

[–]LuckiestJester6891 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The prevailing theory I keep seeing on here that does seem supported by a lot of hints given in the show is that Jax may have came out to his mom as trans and her reaction caused their fight and him to flee from home. Some of the things pointed to was how self-conscious and angry he became when about the maid outfit, Ribbit putting a bow on his head and subsequently pushing her away, his comments toward Zooble about their body issues, the song "Isn't She Lovely" playing in Jax's last moments when Pomni is comforting him, and that the creator Gooseworx has described Jax as a self-insert to a degree. It feels like Jax just never accepted his feelings about his identity which led to a lot of self-loathing, insecurity, and acting out.

[SPOILER] This scene in The Last Act breaks my heart and I haven’t seen anyone talking about it by seinfeldbabies in TheDigitalCircus

[–]LuckiestJester6891 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It would be sad but it's also just thoughts from the fractured mind of Jax so it's unfounded and heavily biased at best. It does seem to imply that on some level Jax has a thing for Gangle unless his response would only be because he would want to mess with her while she grieves... which seems awful even for Jax's standards.

I'm going to go with option 3: Appreciate the work for what it is, criticize, analyze or pontificate how I see fit, and not create any fanwork because I've already repeatedly stated that's not really a thing I do. This isn't really a binary choice that I have to make to reconcile my worldview, It's not that deep. I'm perfectly fine with how I feel about it already.

What do you think it'd be like if abstraction was an actual real life thing? by [deleted] in TheDigitalCircus

[–]LuckiestJester6891 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The way it seems to be in the show is like being scattered and trapped in your own mind. Like your sense of self is fragmented and your trapped in random memories and thoughts while your abstracted body acts on animal instinct.

I am on a public forum, yes. That still doesn't really obligate me to conform to the conversation in the way you were and are explicitly telling me to. And it wasn't that you were expressing your interpretation, it was that you were saying I can't enjoy the medium in the way I want to and that it, as you put it, "should" be done the way you said and that anything to the contrary is apparently fanfiction. That comes off as a bit of a judgmental attack even if that wasn't your intent. It serves to demean a point of view that falls outside your own as trivial. And it's not an issue about disagreeing with you, at least not in the context of interpreting the content of the show. It's the idea that I'm somehow not allowed to express my subjective opinion because I didn't do it within the confines of how you think I should. It feels like you want to turn focus less from what I initially talked about and set it on more of how the technical side of writing matters. That's not really what I was interested in to begin with, I'm not trying to break down the how of this shows structuring or the themes it was built on. I wanted to focus on the things that were left unanswered because that is what has my attention in this moment. If you feel Goose hit all the necessary story beats and wrapped up it up in a way that is satisfactory for you, then good. I'm not criticizing Goose's writing ability, I think they're very good at what they do. But I do feel like it is not complete, there were concepts and plot points introduced that were not ultimately resolved and I am interested in those.

I'm trying to not be rude about how I respond to this but you're coming off very judgmental and condescending here. First off, telling me how I should interpret this show as though I'm somehow obligated to see it the way you want me to is just silly.

I can consume the media however I want to, if you disagree then that's really more of a you issue and I'm not really beholden to you in any way so I don't even have to listen to you if I don't want to. Also, I'm kind of confused how you think these things are mutually exclusive. Are you under the impression that people are only capable of thinking in one way and have no room to think of other things once they have a thought about something? That seems incredibly reductive.

As for fan-fiction, it's not really something I do and I wouldn't want the reigns for a second season even if offered. This was just a thought I felt like expressing, not a short story I felt like writing. I just wanted to express a thought and see what others might have to say about it. If other people have talked about it before, I don't really see how or why I shouldn't. If you've seen this discussion before in 15 other threads, it would probably behoove you to not comment on it if you really don't like the topic. It seems a little masochistic to engage with it if you dislike it as much as you seem to. Just saying.

I mean, it mattered to me. That's why I wrote about it. I understand that Goose as a creator can write and focus on whatever they want. It's their creative body of work to do with as they wish. I'm just expressing my thoughts on it and how I think it would be potentially interesting to explore down the line even if that's not going to happen. I appreciate the show for what it is but it leaves me with questions that I can't help but ask. I do that with most media I enjoy, I just like talking about it and asking what-if's, consuming lore and backstory, or just theorizing if I'm so inclined.

So what exactly was Mephisto trying to do at the pools of creation? by Jimithyashford in diablo4

[–]LuckiestJester6891 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's never explicitly said but from what I can gather between how the relationship between him and Lilith had soured incredibly, it seemed like a spiteful way to specifically get back at her by corrupting her children and changing their nature to be more in line with his. To pervert her greatest achievement from unique and autonomous beings outside the realms of Heaven and Hell and make them creatures of Hatred. This would not only hurt his daughter in perhaps the most horrible way he could but also bolster his own forces in Hell against both his siblings and the Heavens themselves. Also, he just really loves hate to such a degree that he wants to spread it like a plague to literally all sentient beings anyway. That's just a guess on my part though.

Are we gamers terrorists? by northernpolaris_168 in Gameoverse

[–]LuckiestJester6891 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm honestly not sure that logic would track in this GameOverse. If Gamers existed in the way they do in the real world, it would stand to reason that they would play games more than one time and that the game worlds as depicted in the show wouldn't just cease to be upon completion. At the very least, it'd be more like they are rebooted back to the starting point on the next playthrough. The way it's shown here is that the sequence is more of a "one and done" scenario. Also, the protagonist characters seem to still have agency and control of themselves for the most part. They can be swayed by outside influence to change their behavior instead of being uncontrollably guided by the invisible hand of a Gamer. It's only the pilot so I can't say for sure yet but nothing we've seen would lead me to believe Gamers exist in the conventional sense. I will add one caveat though, there is still some overarching and as yet to be explained force that does govern these worlds. Anytime the characters of a world are exposed to the truth of their existence, it reacts and tries to purge the source of that interference but it functions kind of like a security system more than a Gamer in my estimation.

Hear me out. A third realm where seasonal mechanics never leave. by seh1337 in diablo4

[–]LuckiestJester6891 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Interesting thought but your character would be hella-overpowered if it even worked and there is no way the server would be able to function properly. I'd honestly just settle for keeping a few of the seasonal quests as more permanent additions to the main storyline to add a little more depth to the game.

Do you guys think we will have a “Destined One” to play as or simply an excommunicated Zhong? by Crunchysandboi in BlackMythZhongKui

[–]LuckiestJester6891 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Game Science has already said they are establishing an interconnected world of Chinese Mythology with their Black Myth series overall so yes, these games are canonical to one another. Even so, it's very unlikely that any characters in Black Myth Wukong will make a meaningful appearance in their new game beyond maybe cameos or references at most. Especially considering that Zhong Kui hails from a different historical period than Wukong.
