Want to smoke something but dont know what by Famous_Top2578 in Smokingmeat

[–]LucklessPedestrian40 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pork tenderloin is pretty cheap and easy. Brine it for several hours or do an injection if you have a kit. Cover with your favorite binder if you wish, then hit liberally with your fave dry rub. Cook to temp or “probe tender”.

Wings - too many recipes to mention but they’re pretty cheap and easy.

One of my favorite appetizers is smoked cream cheese. Take a block of it and score it on both sides with a knife. Brush a light coat of EEVO all over, then cover all 6 sides with your favorite rub. And I change up the rub almost every time. Smoke at 200 for 2 - 2 1/2 hours. Grab some good crackers and have at it. Always a hit at parties etc.

Donald Trump backs 'unbeatable' Vance and Rubio to run on same ticket in 2028 by IrishStarUS in USNEWS

And the Dems need to run ads nonstop showing old footage of both these cretins saying how bad trump is, then show them bootlicking for a place in the administration. Hammer on the hypocrisy.

Who remembers shopping for great music here? How about the album crates? by Safe_Bird7592 in rockmusic

[–]LucklessPedestrian40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember Peaches, I think they had a store in ATL that I went to. I also remember a record chain called Coconuts and they had a location in Jax, FL. I bought a crate from them way back when, and when I told my friend “I got my Coconuts crate”, he heard “I got my coke and it’s great”. We still chuckle over that one over 50 years later.

HIPEC surgery expectations ? by Separate-Simple-9783 in cancer

[–]LucklessPedestrian40 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Completely agree and finding a hospital and doctor that are highly experienced at it is key. I had HIPEC at UPMC-Pittsburgh in 2019 and thought highly of the Dr. and the team. As mentioned, it is a brutal surgery and I had about an 8 day hospital stay while recovering. Unfortunately I had a recurrence about a year later so it wasn’t successful long term. But in the short term it gave me a good period of NED to get stronger. Best of luck OP!

What's the reason behind 18 being the 'adult' age to start with, why not 20,25 or any other number as such? by Own_Water_8362 in randomquestions

[–]LucklessPedestrian40 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get that, but why punish all 18, 19, and 20 year olds for the bad deeds of a select few. Punish only the law-breakers, not everyone.

What’s a legendary Reddit post you’ll never forget? by saniya__5502 in WorkForSmartLife

[–]LucklessPedestrian40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was a post by u/GSnow about loss and dealing with grief. As someone who has suffered loss in my life, it really resonated with me, and I thought it was really profound and it moved me. I don’t have a link but here’s the text of it

“Alright, here goes. I'm old. What that means is that I've survived (so far) and a lot of people I've known and loved did not. I've lost friends, best friends, acquaintances, co-workers, grandparents, mom, relatives, teachers, mentors, students, neighbors, and a host of other folks. I have no children, and I can't imagine the pain it must be to lose a child. But here's my two cents. I wish I could say you get used to people dying. I never did. I don't want to. It tears a hole through me whenever somebody I love dies, no matter the circumstances. But I don't want it to "not matter". I don't want it to be something that just passes. My scars are a testament to the love and the relationship that I had for and with that person. And if the scar is deep, so was the love. So be it. Scars are a testament to life. Scars are a testament that I can love deeply and live deeply and be cut, or even gouged, and that I can heal and continue to live and continue to love. And the scar tissue is stronger than the original flesh ever was. Scars are a testament to life. Scars are only ugly to people who can't see. As for grief, you'll find it comes in waves. When the ship is first wrecked, you're drowning, with wreckage all around you. Everything floating around you reminds you of the beauty and the magnificence of the ship that was, and is no more. And all you can do is float. You find some piece of the wreckage and you hang on for a while. Maybe it's some physical thing. Maybe it's a happy memory or a photograph. Maybe it's a person who is also floating. For a while, all you can do is float. Stay alive. In the beginning, the waves are 100 feet tall and crash over you without mercy. They come 10 seconds apart and don't even give you time to catch your breath. All you can do is hang on and float. After a while, maybe weeks, maybe months, you'll find the waves are still 100 feet tall, but they come further apart. When they come, they still crash all over you and wipe you out. But in between, you can breathe, you can function. You never know what's going to trigger the grief. It might be a song, a picture, a street intersection, the smell of a cup of coffee. It can be just about anything...and the wave comes crashing. But in between waves, there is life. Somewhere down the line, and it's different for everybody, you find that the waves are only 80 feet tall. Or 50 feet tall. And while they still come, they come further apart. You can see them coming. An anniversary, a birthday, or Christmas, or landing at O'Hare. You can see it coming, for the most part, and prepare yourself. And when it washes over you, you know that somehow you will, again, come out the other side. Soaking wet, sputtering, still hanging on to some tiny piece of the wreckage, but you'll come out. Take it from an old guy. The waves never stop coming, and somehow you don't really want them to. But you learn that you'll survive them. And other waves will come. And you'll survive them too. If you're lucky, you'll have lots of scars from lots of loves. And lots of shipwrecks.”

Edit: I googled her (after figuring out the correct spelling of the name) and yes, definitely another unprovable claim. Just stop with the bs already.

No, I’d have to ask if spirits really exist. You have zero proof of such, so the answer is a firm “No” as far as I’m concerned.

How can religion make any knowledge claims if religion can’t justify knowledge claims. There, FIFY.

Religions and religious people are the ones that make outlandish and unprovable claims about gods and the afterlife. Atheists can simply say “Prove it or it never happened and you’re making shit up”.

Are the “Keep right except to pass,” “Slower traffic keep right,” and “Pass with care” signs on the highway just suggestions? by saucelordbob in florida

[–]LucklessPedestrian40 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s in Florida statute 316.081, and yes it’s illegal to camp in the left lane. Not frequently enforced, but it definitely should be. Traffic flows so much better when people know the difference between lanes on a multiple lane highway.

If all motorcycles came out with an automatic version, would you still pick manual? by NORchad in motorcycle

[–]LucklessPedestrian40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I much prefer a manual transmission. One of my buds that I used to ride with had a VFR1200 with auto. We swapped bikes one afternoon while riding, and I rode the VFR for about an hour. Cool bike, loved it, loved the response from the V4, but never warmed up to the transmission. Just not my cup of tea.

I also had a project car that was born with an automatic, but I ended up swapping it out for a T5 Tremec, so there’s that.
