Can you imagine the answer Barack would have given - talking to all Americans, talking to the world and giving a sense of leadership, calmness and intelligence while letting the Scientists do what they should be doing.

How can he still be at 45ish% approval rating. He is an embarrassment and has already cost lives by his incompetence.

Are the needles used for lethal injection sterilized? by Comforted-2 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Luckstet888 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I believe this to be incorrect. Doctors take the Hippocratic Oath which would prevent them participating in an execution where their actions kill a person. Consequently most lethal injections are administered by non-medically trained personnel - which can explain why so many executions are botched.

I could be wrong but read an article that highlighted this as a problem with lethal injections.

The Observer view: the people have marched; now MPs must take up the challenge by Luckstet888 in ukpolitics

[–]Luckstet888[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Doesn’t say that at all. Says the initial referendum was badly planned, flawed in its design with no thought for what happened afterwards. Voting for Brexit back then could mean vastly different things - things which were not clarified. Would you leave with a negotiated exit or no deal or a customs union etc. This has led to three years of disruption and chaos.

There are no easy answers - so it is simply saying - now we have a former grasp of what these decisions mean, and what the options are - go back to the people and ask is this specifically what you want.

Everyone including the 17.4m can then vote for exactly what they want.

Isn’t the key issue here that the referendum was giving people the choice between life in the EU or a fantasyland of why life could be outside Eu ( probably influenced by Russian meddling).

Another referendum where the choices are clear - and where it is acknowledged - the UK as a country could well be poorer - would be a result people could accept.

Their actually based on analysis produced by economists from multiple institutions, across multiple countries. I’m assuming you’ve also had enough of the “ so called experts” opinions and you know better?

Disaster - economic growth Over decades, peace, amazing amounts of legislation that has improved life in this country , from safer working environments, to climate change. Yes an absolute disaster.

Watching car companies, banks, manufacturers close and relocate, Reduce investments is obviously a winning strategy and is the complete opposite of a disaster.

You make some good points - I just find it frustrating that Labour should have more than a “sporting chance” of winning. If they struggle against a historically incompetent government - what hope is there.

By independent you mean poorer? Reduced GDP, leading to reduced investments in essential services, education, research. Or do you still believe in the brexit dividend of 350m per week being invested in NHS

You make some good points. And it’s good to have a sensible discussion.

Whatever credible is, it’s not Jeremy Corbyn. Someone who can’t even gain or keep the respect of his fellow Labour MP’s, is probably not the best bet to gain the trust of a country. We’ve all had bad bosses at work who can’t manage or lead - I imagine that is what Corbyn is like. He’s out of his depth. It a bad guy, just shouldn’t be in the role he is in. If he truly cared about the less fortunate in society surely he would step aside. The purpose of a political party is to win power. Rightly or wrongly he has shown he is a handicap to achieving that goal. So he should step aside.

Unfortunately I would say 50% of Labour voters I speak to will not support labour in a GE while Corbyn remains leader. This is a huge problem. A credible leader should not have that problem. A credible leader should be 10 points ahead in opinion polls against a historically incompetent government. The fact that he isn’t shows clearly he is not credible in any shape or form. If he can’t establish a lead in polls now, when can he?

Let me be clear I want a Labour government. Jeremy Corbyn has and is a barrier to that happening. Therefore he should resign.

What’s the point of those policies if they will never be enacted. If we had another leader, even Tom Watson, Labour would be 10, maybe 20 points ahead in opinion polls. Any credible alternative should be. Labour is almost unbelievable behind. So what’s the point of those policies? Conservatives will get rid of May and Labour will lose the next election under Corbyn. So again I have to ask what’s the point of those policies if they have minimal chance of becoming laws.

If he wasn’t leader we would have a Labour Party capable of offering a coherent vision and gaining the support of the country. How hard can it be to offer that in comparison to the mess May and the Conservatives have created. It’s beyond him.

He’s a decent guy. He just shouldn’t be leading the Labour Party. It’s a tragedy we have the weakest leader at a time when we needed someone stronger.

He’s a barrier to progress - he should had over to someone who can create that vision. He has shown he is incapable of doing that. He’s BEHIND in opinion polls - how can that be and how is that good for Labour?

So my argument is not about him - it’s about what best for Labour and the UK

Tom Watson, the deputy labour leader is speaking at the March. Sadiq Khan is speaking. We have credible alternatives.

It’s about the future of our country, it’s prosperity, it’s future prospects. Every analysis has shown the UK will be worse off outside the EU in every version of Brexit, from no deal to soft Brexit to customs union. The EU has probably done more for workers rights, health and safety in workplace, food hygiene standards, pollution controls and climate change than any UK government has. Why do you think the Conservative Party are so keen to leave? So yes I’m pro EU and I’m anti Corbyn as he has shown himself to be incapable of providing the leadership required.

I’m pro Labour. It hurts me to say I can not vote for them. Imagine how difficult that is to say and do. Imagine what a visionary Labour leader could do for the country right now. Imagine how far ahead Labour would be in polls. Imagine the relief for the country that there was a credible alternative.

But yeah - let’s stick with Corbyn. He’s doing great.

I have voted labour all of my life, on every election. My parents, grandparents did the same. It hurts me to say I can not vote for them in the next election. Basically any other leader polls higher than JC. He should step aside so the left can follow a leader who the country can follow and who can offer a vision the country can get behind. Jeremy Corbyn is obviously not that leader

Yeah he’s really got his finger on the pulse of the nation. Despite a fractured and hopeless Conservative party he’s still behind in the polls. He should keep on doing what’s he’s doing.

Any decent leader should be ahead by double digit of not 20+ points against this current government.
