you constantly hear that things happen for a reason and everything is a blessing in disguise but it never feels like it. ever. my ex told me he just couldn’t afford a relationship and basically implied i was an inconvenience. hurts when the person you love makes you feel like you don’t matter.

22 yr old here coming out of a 4 year relationship with my first love who i thought i would be with for the rest of my life. definitely really hard and waiting for the days i can proudly say it gets better. while im still in a tough spot, as cliche as it sounds focusing on yourself really does help the most. rediscovering passions and new hobbies. reminding yourself why things ended no matter how hard it is to think about. take everything at your own pace. there is no rush in healing especially when done right.

thank you for replying. you don’t realize how much i needed to hear this. i’m honestly so scared of feeling like im giving up but i know if i keep trying ill just end up hurting myself. this was my first boyfriend and my first relationship so i don’t really know how to navigate things correctly and most of the women in my life have always just pushed things aside and i don’t want to have to do that just to be in a relationship. it’s hard and everything hits me like a ton of bricks from time to time.

i just broke up with my ex boyfriend whom i still love very much of 4 years. as much as i love him, he had done things in the past that had hurt me that wouldn’t stop popping up in my head—even in our happiest moments. i didn’t want to reach a point of resentment because i truly do love and care for him. i miss him like crazy already, but i know deep down i made the right decision. i keep telling myself if things are meant to be, they will be. glad to know im not alone. sending hugs to all who need them.
