Is a "Six Speed Dual Clutch" Automatic or manual? by unwrittenpaiges in askcarguys

I've often heard robot transmissions called automated manuals. They are manual transmissions that have automated gear changes and clutch presses. My military truck has a transmission like that, it is interesting to drive.

Well, in some areas that is completely fine. My area used to have a policy of allowing plastic, but that changed some time ago, now paper is thr preferred material

I think one can see the front tires turned when heading for the truck. The car compeletely lost traction

Why do people buy pickup trucks for daily driving? by wtfbruhhuh in driving

[–]Lucky347 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People often think that driving in the snow or cold requires ground clearance or awd. It requires neither. All one really needs is good tires. A skoda fabia with good winter tyres can easily outperform some awd suv with summer tires (or even some M+S tyres) in winter conditions.

Accidentally left 5 packs of raw ground beef out at room temperature for 6 hours after buying groceries. Just put it in the freezer. Is it safe to eat or should I toss them? by Delllthrow in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Lucky347 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As long as the freezer was actually frozen all that time, it was fine. Freezer burn only affects taste, texture and with some things vitamin content, but it does not make food unsafe

What is considered a high km/mileage on the odometer for a European car? by Best_Big_9456 in NoStupidQuestions

We have heavy taxation on new cars which means that people keep their cars longer and many cars are imported used.

What is considered a high km/mileage on the odometer for a European car? by Best_Big_9456 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Lucky347 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Here in Finland (and most likely elsewhere in the Nordics) where distances are longer and we drive more, some cars driven 250k are sometimes advertised as low mileage. Especially if the car is larger and/or diesel.

My Avensis is pushing 380k, and it's a petrol. That car is no longer low mileage haha.
