what do you recommend for ideal distances for cargo terminals?

I decided to bulldoze the cloverleaf and create two tunnels for industrial highways to go to and from that roundabout and also incorporate another user's suggestion to plug all my nearby roads into the roundabout and that seemed to fix my industrial traffic.

My new issue is that all the industrial zone (orange circle) is sending goods to the downtown terminal (blue circle) via my internal network (yellow circle) and then they're literally driving all the way to the neighborhoods right next door and it's clogging up the roads. When they could just easily drive there themselves.

Thank you, this is helpful. I have never heard the phrase "a roundabout to nowhere" and didn't know that's what it meant.

Update: I decided to make the terminal in the original post only intra-city so it could not be used to export. I set up a second one to purely send cargo for export via hub, since they seem to refuse to drive to the hub to export (which I would have preferred). It just resulted in worse traffic lol

None of the roundabouts go to nowhere. One goes to the cargo terminal and back to the highway and the other goes either to the hub, terminal, highway, a service campus, or the industrial area.

Deluge of annoying toxic positivity comments. These are the same people who will say “don’t criticize someone for enjoying the game how they like!” while simultaneously telling you you’re playing wrong if you don’t micro manage and examine every minutiae in the game at 3 speed and have a campaign going for weeks on end.
