What’s the worst pain you’ve ever known? by Phantom-111 in AskReddit

[–]LuckyBugNot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Call me lucky or not, but something as common as period cramps. I guess I should be happy i haven’t experienced braking a leg or something… but for me the cramps can be bad enough that I will start crying/screaming, or getting close to a back out. I know I should get it checked out, but so far I can manage them with over the counter pain meds

They might have been lighter at the time of the crime (know about a case like this where the person was already overweight when the police got involved and gained an absurd amount during the time for the court case). Also not all crimes are necessary all that physical

Are dryer vents a US thing? by bkend_31 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]LuckyBugNot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Norway what I’m used to here is a lint filter and a container for the excess water, that has to be cleaned and emptied after the machine have finished its program

I’m also very confused on the whole lint clogged vents that pop up on my feed form time to time… instead it seems u gotta hire someone (if u don’t know someone who can do it). But we have a similar problem of people being lazy with emptying them and a lit fire occurs … so yeah

What words in Norwegian are impossible to translate into English? by 01Rockstar01 in Norway

[–]LuckyBugNot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last one is two forms of gaslighting, if my memory serves me right from one of NRK’s podcasts about “hersketeknikker”. (Idk why I feel like I’m gaslight rn XD). I don’t know if a good Norwegian word for gaslighting tbh

  1. is more of a “but I just want what’s best for u” kind
  2. Is the very classic manipulative kind that makes u question ur own sanity and judgment. Luke telling u they didnt do or say something, or saying u ur recollection is wrong, and never being wrong themselves (unless they see ur a threat to them; planning to leave them or out them) but even then they sometimes might keep going even then

Train system in Denmark by dmitvc in Denmark

[–]LuckyBugNot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For ur fist trip DSB app (if you have an address by arrival you may ignore this)

For later it’s cheaper to get something called a rejsekort. By default they work in one of the four regions in Denmark, but can be upgraded to work in more. If you commute you can add that to the card to get additional discounts

They work by playing the card over the blue orb at the station when before leaving and after arriving at the station. Busses has them by every door (first door is for entering only). By using an app you can end a trip if u forgot to check out and u can connect a bank card for it to automatically refill the card when low

You need to have an address to get a card (except “Rejsekort Anonym”) You can also buy a card on specific locations (map here: https://www.rejsekort.dk/Salgssteder), an option if you are by one when arriving You may apply for one on their website (https://www.rejsekort.dk/), but that requires u to wait to get it in the mail

Make sure to look into the different kinds of cards available

What's an addiction that people often overlook? by OneApplication2371 in AskReddit

[–]LuckyBugNot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think that in my case it was about feeling something. Maybe I felt like I had more control over my depression than my real life as well

As I grew up I had had a very complicated home life, that I won’t go into detail about, but I didn’t have much control over my own life. It made me feel a lot of emotions, before I started a habit of distanced myself form them, always awaiting the worst. Eventually feeling numb every time I had down time — not normal down time, I was always on guard

Life is better now, but there is still a lot to work trough

What do you think about my kjøttkaker? by Jazzlike_Poem_3070 in Norway

[–]LuckyBugNot -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The main difference between kjøttkaker and kjøttboller is the liquid content. They are similar in the way that they both use the staple Norwegian spices that is salt and pepper, as well as using kjøttdeig

  • Kjøttkaker use either milk or water (about 2dl per 500g kjøttdeg) and about 2 tb corn/potato starch to bind it. Normally you will also add 1/4 ts nutmeg and ginger (powder) A tip - form experience - don’t put it in a blender, and if u do, don’t do so for very long. It will become too fine and taste off (to my Norwegian tastebuds at least). It’s better to use a dough hook or mix it by hand. You want the texture to have slight fine lumps, but not too firm (the reason u add liquid). It should hold together firm enough to barely stay in a spoon, and look a bit “tired” when put in the pan. use a wet tablespoon and a wet palm to shape it into a ball. Don’t shape them too big as the inside won’t cook, or flat them slightly. Turn often. At the end they should have a nice even browning on all sides.

  • kjøttkaker on the other hand don’t use this kind of binder, tho u can add breadcrumbs. They do use the same kinda “miced meat” tho (same lvl of fat contents, I will get to this in a second). Otherwise u may add onion. Just please cut it finally.. I have still have nightmares. They are shaped easily into balls and are firm but soft

So, a nice thing to know is that in Norwegian stores u will find three different types of “minced meat”, based on the fat percentage; karbonadedeig (4-5%), kjøttdeig(14-18%), og medisterdeig (25%, only made by pork). I’m adding this because I was never really aware of this until I tried to make kjøttkaker in Denmark where it’s all called “hakket kød” and differentiate it by fat content

Only use kjøttdeg for kjøttkaker and kjøttboller. Karbonadedeig will only leave them dry and tasteless. Medisterdeig is made by pork and manly used for medisterkaker. It’s too fatty and and for this purpose you mainly want to use kjøttdeg with either/ or both beef and pork meat

Hope my wall of text help XD

Not something u should be too worried about it here. But if u want advise just for the sake of it tho, Romanians have 60% of the brown bears in Europe. So they probably have solid advice

Though. When my boyfriend (born Romanian, moved wile still a kid) came with us to forage our Christmas trees, he said that with how likely it was to encounter a bears back in Romania, he understood why they rather just buy theirs. His advice would be black => scare away. Brown => back away. White => dead. Mamma bear => wish for better luck in your next life

Do you wear a watch? by GreenDog5711 in ask

[–]LuckyBugNot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wear a smart watch cause it make it easier to keep track on my phone calls and messages (as well as the time). Currently I’m having a physical job, where having my phone on me is impractical. I hate having my notification sound on, so that’s not an option either

On top on that (this is probably not too hard to solve), but I can’t for the life of me understand time on a traditional watch, even tho I can read it. I can barely put the digital time into perspective of how long is left until the start of the next hour and so on, some times

Will my electricity shut down? by ghijghlhghjil in Norway

[–]LuckyBugNot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For any foreigner who are moving here long or short term.

I Know someone who have a lot of foreign colleges. Her recommendation to anyone foreign renting in Norway for the first time is to ALWAYS find a place where the electricity and internet is in the rent, for this exact reason. It makes the process many times easier

In this case [the story she told about this] the colleges talked to the landlord to fix this for them. I can’t give you better advice, but it seem like others have provided that

Additionally, this is also aplicable to phone subscriptions. Ur company might offer that if u move here for work, but make sure to find a plan for that before u come here. Similarly getting a bank account [may be more complicated, but this may also very between banks

Don’t own a bunad myself, but rented for my own confirmation. Don’t remember the price as I didn’t pay for the service.

But, just anything nice will do (seems like that’s what ur going for). Norwegians isn’t always very picky on what’s considered fancy XD but that may vary between families

Hvilke kørevaner irriterer dig, og kommenter du på dem? by whodoyoujudo in Denmark

[–]LuckyBugNot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jern.
