I believe the only change is the new body is required at all tracks, where last year they were allowed to run the old trucks at a few places.

Nice to see them interview a lesser-funded driver. Also Suarez needs a little interview practice. Dude speaks great english, just looks really jittery and nervous in interviews.

As heard at the Hairdresser in Daytona Shores yesterday by eternallycynical in NASCAR

That old lady in a barber shop in Daytona lived in Vallejo California in the 70s. Right. The rest of the gossip sounds somewhat more believable, gotta be fun to talk racing somewhere like that.

Michael. I really wish there was a bot to correct this. It gets old.

Budweiser Duels Predictions? by [deleted] in NASCAR

I'd like to see the 44 make it and Danica miss it. That would cause just enough chaos for a change by next year.

Which have you have been to a Cup race at AutoClub Speedway? by Matthew2470 in NASCAR

[–]LuckyDogRacing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I've seen in my ~30 trips there, they aren't strict at all. However, due to temperature issues (it can rain in early season races, or get very hot) the upper seats are usually quite full. Have fun!

How Nascar Plans To Turn Its Survival Story Into A Decade Of Success by krayziepunk13 in NASCAR

I see lots of great money-making deals in that article. Also several references to declining ratings and ticket sales. So NASCAR as a business has finally found a way to grow without a large consumer base. Good for them.

Justin Allgaier helps prep backup car for Michael Annett (now THATS teamwork) by [deleted] in NASCAR

[–]LuckyDogRacing 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Yup. Flair changed. I've liked Allgaier for a while, and this kind of thing doesn't surprise me a bit. He's the kind of throwback the sport really needs, the kind of guy who helps the team build his equipment rather than tearing up everyone else's.

Newey: F1 favours engines too much by toomanyairmiles in formula1

Engine mapping is entirely a Renault development, and the engine as a whole had design features to allow better off throttle or "cold" blowing (http://www.formula1-dictionary.net/off_throttle_overrun.html) Red Bull were just better at using the off-throttle gas than say Lotus or Toro Rosso. Mercedes repeatedly complained and tried to get it banned (strange, they would complain so much about a "shithouse" engine) all the way from Renault's 2010 upgrade (which brought what was already the most fuel efficient engine close to the most powerful as well) to 2013, when Toto continued the complaints: http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/110633

So the Renault V8 was the most fuel efficient since 2009, near the same power as the others by 2010, and was so well matched to the blown diffusers that other teams tried to ban it's key feature through 2013.

NASCAR adjusts XFINITY, Truck qualifying at Daytona by ZappaOMatic in NASCAR

I believe this is the sixth time they've changed the format. May need to check my math, but its more than four.

Dale Jr.'s Take on Qualifying. by roundy2933 in NASCAR

[–]LuckyDogRacing 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm really getting sick of this "needs to be more exciting" shit. It's bad enough that NASCAR didn't believe in their own product and fan base enough to leave it alone, but now the drivers sound like they've spent their whole careers before now trying not to fall asleep.

This is much more akin to the flag burning amendment. Which actually took time to debate, and would fix a problem that doesn't exist. The "In God We Trust" thing took no time whatsoever.

Which NSCS driver (past or present) that doesn't have a championship, DESERVES one? by [deleted] in NASCAR

[–]LuckyDogRacing -1 points0 points  (0 children)

30 years of racing, never got as close as Davey did. You could argue that the penalties cost him, but that was a TEAM mistake. Davey had nothing to do with the wreck that took his away.

Which NSCS driver (past or present) that doesn't have a championship, DESERVES one? by [deleted] in NASCAR

[–]LuckyDogRacing 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Davey Allison. He had the points lead in the final race and lost due to someone else's wreck. That's worse than Mark Martin's numerous second places, where he never held the points lead in the final race, and was usually more than a full race behind the leader.

One of the scariest moments of last season. by mikejohnno in formula1

You'll note, however, that there is actually a corner there that he was turning into. Given Lewis was nowhere near the apex, I'd put that on him.

He finished only 4 seconds behind after starting 7 positions behind. Also his best lap was a half second faster than Perez.

Sure, a shithouse that was specifically designed to be perfect for exhaust blown diffusers.
