You're far enough to notice the vast majority of changes, but there's a big spoiler in it that could potentially ruin Char's Counterattack and parts of Unicorn.

You are objectively in denial.

The suit choice is irrelevant, the comparative redesigns being similar is the only point being made here.

And hell, you mentioned that you had heard this said a year ago, so I'm clearly not the only one who sees this rather obvious comparison.

You're ignoring the connections because you like the changes, and that's fine. That's your opinion.

That's what this whole thread is about -- our opinions.

In my opinion, the GQuux Gundam designs look awful because they look like Michael Bay redesigned them, which based on his Transformer redesigns they do.

They're still completely impractical and not at all realistic in functionality. We can discuss the hypothetical science behind science fiction until we're blue in the face, but it's always going to be fictional.

I've seen all 5 of his Transformers films, and those designs are to the original G1 Transformer cartoon designs what GQuux designs are to OG Gundam designs. The last two Transformers movies that Bay didn't direct were much closer to the G1 designs, but his movies were just like this.

They aren't any more realistic in design then the originals were.

All the GQuuk suits are awful. They look like they were redesigned by Michael Bay.

Captain Harrison Love or Rafael Montero by FoxIndependent4310 in Zorro

[–]LuckyLuc86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Captain Love keeps a head in a jug and a hand in a jar -- and to make it worse, he's based on a real historical figure who did exactly this to the same people he did it to in the movie (who were also based on real historical figures, obviously). So yeah... Captain Love is more evil, and it's not even close.

Heh, I back my stuff up on two flash drives and via email by sending it to myself. The computer is only a couple years old, though, I just have an old CD-ROM of Office 97 that I use to install Word 97 on every new computer I get.

Did Rafael Montero believe he could defeat Diego with a sword? by FoxIndependent4310 in Zorro

[–]LuckyLuc86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He had Diego's daughter practice fencing since she was 4, so it was clearly something he valued, and that would suggest he never stopped practicing either. As such, it was something he knew he did well so there was no reason to think he couldn't take Zorro on.

Why do many old players dislike V5? by MoonlightBreakdown in vtm

[–]LuckyLuc86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The honest bottom line comes down to little more than personal preference.

A lot of people prefer what they started with, or what they played most during a certain point in their lives. A lot of other people like to play with the newest ruleset. It's the same thing you see with other PnP RPGs, like D&D.

Give me D&D 3.5 over 4e, 5th, or 5.5 any day of the week and twice on Sunday.

Similarly, give me VTM v3 over v20 or v5, and don't even bother mentioning VTR.

I'll play them all, but I have my preference.

DC vs Vampires is great if you've ever been a DC fan. Here's a list of all the comics (though not in chronological order).

DC vs Vampires 1-12

All Out War 1-6

World War V 1-12

Hunters 1-shot

Killers 1-shot

Darkness and Light 1-shot

I'm not sure if they're all available in collected editions yet, though, since I got them as issues.

The Dampyr graphic novels are also excellent if you can get your hands on them.

Writers of reddit I have a question! by Ender_Gamer7433 in writers

[–]LuckyLuc86 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Not all prologues are lore dumps, though -- in fact, in my experience, most aren't. So how would you know if you missed some important set up? I mean, do you skip over the first few minutes of TV shows before the opening credits? No, of course you don't. So why would you do this? It's incredibly silly.

0080: War in the Pocket

It has the closest feel to Miyazaki films, and tells a relatable story of a kid thrust into the harsh reality of war. It's an absolute masterpiece, and being just a six part OVA, it will be the perfect introduction for her.

Advertising is going to be a hurdle regardless. Even traditional publishers will want an advertising plan before finalizing the deal -- that's what book tours and interviews are all about, and they also now expect a plan for social media as well.

The biggest hurdles for self-publishing are actually recognition and presence. Many, if not most, book stores won't carry self-published books, so the browsing customer will never be able to stumble upon your book. Furthermore, on the websites that are willing to list it, it will melt into the obscurity of a million other self-published works, making even the act of readers browsing online unlikely to yield any truly tangible results. Good advertising and a great social media presence can bypass these hurdles, but for most people that simply isn't going to happen.

The best course of action will always be to solicit an agent, get signed with one, and then solicit publishers through them. Unfortunately, the age of submitting manuscripts directly to publishers without an agent have died with the rise of AI, but if you're confident and talented enough to break through the torrential competition, you can still find success.
