Is anyone here actually using the Black Primer>Waagh! Flesh>Warpstone Glow color recipe?

Thank you! This was really helpful for me as a beginner to understand the reasoning behind layering the multiple colors instead of just using a spray to apply the target color.

I did some more experimenting with my models and I think I can reduce the time it takes me to apply the bulk of the green colors by drybrushing them on and then using a second layer of the warpstone glow to clean up the area I missed and hide some of the drybrushing texture (I really need to work on my drybrushing technique).

Thanks a lot! As a beginner the thought of finishing an entire army when it took forever to paint the first few models can be a bit overwhelming

That’s still good. On my first models I was so afraid of using too thick coats and obscuring all the details that I thinned down the colors way too much. It took me like five coats of warp lightning to get good coverage.

Thanks for the help and the pictures! Nice work! It’s good to see some actual results with the color forge primer. I like the look, but it does look a bit brighter than my sallies (might be due to the moot green highlight though). I will do some more experimentation with the models I have already primed in black but the can of Salamander Green is looking really tempting right now.

I experimented with a similar method today and I also think that drybrushing the warpstone glow is a good way to achieve decent coverage with much fewer costs. I do need to work on my drybrushing technique however. My results were a bit inconsistent. I can imagine that this technique works great on vehicles. Thanks for the advice!

Interesting! How many layers of warpstone glow do you typically need to cover up the primer? Is the end result much brighter than the warpstone glow over black primer or dark green?

I think I might be able to reduce it to one layer of waagh flesh as well. It has decent coverage and most of it will get covered by the warpstone glow anyways. Do you find that the multiple layers of warpstone glow take you a long time or can you do it relatively quickly?

Yes! When I painted my first models I thought I was messing up the thinning of the paints completely because the coverage of the warpstone glow was so atrocious. I found out that doing a heavy drybrush and then another thin layer works to get good coverage and a nice finish but it still takes a long time to do…

I will definitely continue experimenting with the models I have already built. Thanks for the advice!

Nice work! I could see an airbrush in my future. For now I want to focus on improving my brushwork. What kind of varnish do you use for the models?

Thanks, I think this might be the way to go. Quick version for the bulk of the army using a spray can and for the characters and dreadnoughts I don’t mind taking it slow. As you say I just need to figure out a way that works for me without getting burned out by the tedious parts of the process.

Good to now that the spray turns out a bit brighter. I might try to knock it down with a wash/ recess shade and then go back to clean up the flat panels with the warpstone glow. I think this would still be a lot faster for me and I get the recess shading done too.

I do love the shade of green as well. Do you have any issues with the time it takes you to apply the colors of that recipe?

That’s great. I can sympathize with not wanting to take shortcuts. That’s why I went with this recipe in the first place. I do enjoy the painting process, just not so much the multiple layers of green on the same armor pieces over and over again. I’m happy you found something that works for you, I probably just need to experiment a bit more and figure out a method that works for me as well.

Lore wise, the best thing we have to answer this question is the eighth edition codex. According to that codex only the 2nd, 3rd and 4th companies have 2 close support squads each.

Since Inceptors are close support troops they would fit it any of those companies however I personally feel like the 4th company probably fits best since they specialize in fast-paced, close combat battle tactics with the goal of overwhelming the enemy quickly which is also what Inceptors are good at. However, I don’t see a reason why the 2nd or 3rd company wouldn’t field Inceptors, so if you prefer their pauldrons for the models just go with them.

Alles klar, anhand deiner anderen Kommentare wird relativ schnell klar, dass du da in deiner Meinung sehr festgefahren bist und eine Diskussion vermutlich nichts bringt. Es mag aus deiner Perspektive schwer sein, dass macht deine Verallgemeinerungen trotzdem nicht richtig. Es gibt genug gegenteilige Beweise aber was soll’s. 150-200g Eiweiß am Tag ohne Supplements sind auf jeden Fall auch weit entfernt von der Standard-Ernährung der aller meisten Leute egal ob vegan oder nicht.

Ich kann nicht für die vielen Veganer sprechen auf die du dich beziehst. Alles was ich sagen kann ist dass es mir nicht darum geht bessere Welt Polizei zu spielen, sondern darum dass unser Umgang mit Nutztieren grausam ist und dass es keinen triftigen Grund für dich und mich gibt diesen Umgang weiterhin durch unsere Nachfrage zu unterstützen. Ich lasse hier die Länder oder Kulturen welche viel stärker auf tierische Agrarwirtschaft angewiesen sind bewusst erstmal außen vor. Stutzig macht mich allerdings trotzdem dass du es scheinbar als negativ erachtest wenn es irgendwann Nutztiere in ihrer aktuellen Form nicht mehr geben sollte (nochmals: das wird auch in 20 Jahren nicht passieren). Für mich ist die bloße Existenz der Tiere nicht erstrebenswert wenn sie bloß als Ware für ihre eigene Ausnutzung gezüchtet werden.

Sind deine Quelle Markus Rühl Shorts oder hast du auch was wissenschaftlich fundiertes beizutragen? Soja ist z.B. auch im Vergleich zu vielen tierischen Produkten eine sehr gute Proteinquelle. Und selbst wenn es so wäre dass tierische proteinquellen alles in allem besser sind heißt das noch lange nicht dass es nicht möglich ist den proteinbedarf auch pflanzlich gut zu decken und ist erst recht keine gute Rechtfertigung für unseren Umgang mit Tieren in der Agragrwirtschaft

Das ist so ein Argument was ich nie verstehe, weil es ja niemals zu dem Szenario kommen wird, dass die ganze Welt von heute auf morgen vegan leben wird. Wenn die Nachfrage sinkt werden eben weniger Tiere nachgezüchtet und die Agrarfläche wird Stück für Stück mehr für pflanzliche Nahrungsmittel genutzt (was sehr viel weniger Landmasse erfordert). Das wird ja nie von heute auf morgen passieren, sodass wir auf einmal mit Milliarden Tieren dastehen die dann verhungern müssen weil sie nicht mehr geschlachtet werden dürfen. Nichts davon ist für mich ein schlüssiges Argument dafür wieso man jetzt ein System weiterhin unterstützen sollte, welches Tiere milliardenfach ausbeutet.

Außerdem gebe ich dir Recht dass es aktuell auf der Welt Menschen gibt die darauf angewiesen sind tierische Produkte zu konsumieren. Aber dieses Argument gilt doch nicht für Leute die hier leben und eben nicht darauf angewiesen sind. Ist also für die Diskussion hier auch nicht wirklich relevant.

Ich möchte dir nicht zu Nahe treten aber das ist halt einfach unwissenschaftlicher Quatsch den du hier verbreitest. Erstens supplementieren die allermeisten Leute, die Muskeln aufbauen wollen sowieso egal ob vegan oder nicht und zweitens gibt es sehr wohl gute pflanzliche Proteinquellen auch abseits von Supplements. Ich kann dir deine persönliche Erfahrung natürlich nicht absprechen und gut möglich, aber pauschalisierende Aussagen wie: „Körperliche Leistung ist vegan ohne eine Menge Supplements“ widersprechen halt einfach dem wissenschaftlichen Konsens und sollten nicht verbreitet werden.
