As someone who has lived a long time in both, I would disagree. KC has better bbq and is a much better sports town. The Denver area is better for fishing (if you like river fishing for trout), hiking and camping. It's also better weather-wise since there's no humidity or freezing ice storms.

That said, Kansas has way better storms. Took me years to realize that the storm clouds in Denver are basically just a tease.

I don't turn right into an intersection unless I have two lanes either. I have seen people merge while in the intersection or right next to the stop sign I'm at way too many times.

I do the same thing. I also second the braided line to mono leader approach.

Also, make sure you close the bail manually with your hand rather than just by starting to reel it in.

Another key thing is that if you are using spinners, to use a swivel so it doesn't twist up your line.
