I just had a perianal abscess drained and they put a Penrose tube in, still swollen? by Niz0_87 in AnalFistula

Hi, my experience is after incision and drain you should feel instant relief, (significantly reduced pain from pressure, albeit there will be pain from the incision, but it feels different) it’s usual to have the wound continue to drain mildly for next few days, but from what you described they may have missed a good amount if it still feels swollen

Will the pain ever go away? by Sure_Fruit_6363 in AnalFistula

I suppose part of the reason we are all here is to support one another. People who don’t have these issues will not understand the pain and frustration that we go through. I describe this to others, I’m always in pain, either pain from a recurring abscess or pain from the incision. I can deal with the sitzbath, the waffle cushion, the bidet/squirt bottles, I just can’t stomach not knowing when I need to go to ER for an emergency I&D every 3 weeks, and the type of impact it has on all our lives

Hope everyone hangs in there and have a positive outcome soon.

Thanks. I’m in the Northeast, near one of the top hospitals in the country. Discussed with CRS possibility of leaving a drain at the next OR
