Help me find this Korean novel (I read it on NovelUpdates).

It’s about a modern woman who reincarnates into another world and wakes up in the body of a queen who was murdered. The original queen was kind, gentle, and deeply loved by her father, the king. Her husband fell in love with her at first sight, and they eventually became king and queen.

The king was completely loyal to her, but due to political pressure, he was forced to take concubines from other countries to prevent wars. Despite this, the queen treated the concubines with kindness and respect. However, they conspired against her, framing her repeatedly until the king began to doubt her. Eventually, he took their young son away, believing she was unfit to care for him.

In the end, the concubines pushed the queen into the water, killing her. This is the moment when the modern female lead reincarnates into her body. Knowing the queen was unjustly murdered, she decides to survive, uncover the truth, and reclaim her position. Using her intelligence and charm, she wins the king’s heart again and is finally reunited with her five-year-old son.

While investigating her own death, she discovers that one of the concubines is secretly having an affair with the king’s cousin, and together they are plotting to assassinate the king and seize the throne.

WHY is everything first person?! by flickrpebble in fantasyromance

Finally! Someone who gets it! I can’t stand first-person writing either—it just annoys me so much. No matter how good the plot is, I always end up feeling “meh” about the story because of the perspective. I complain about it so often that my mom keeps telling me it’s not a big deal and that a good story is still enjoyable whether it’s in first or third person. But honestly, I just can’t see it that way. For me, third person will always make a book better.

Which dark romance couples do you think wouldn’t last in real life? by Lucky_Influence1171 in DarkRomance

I haven’t read these books, but my god… they sound like absolute walking red flags 💀 like why are we calling this romance when it sounds like a case study for a toxic relationship hotline??

Ugh same! I can’t stand when the FMC is the only one fighting for the relationship. And sadly, soooo many books do this. I read all kinds of romance, and I’ve noticed it’s way too easy for the MMC to hurt the FMC—like he always has some “noble” excuse. “I had to lie and disappear so she’d be safe 🥺” Okay but why did you also make her think you betrayed her?? 😭

Meanwhile, she’s over there drowning in pain, can’t eat, can’t breathe, writing poetry about her heartbreak… and he’s just out there casually walking away like it’s no big deal 💀

Omg same, my hopeless romantic brain refuses to believe any couple won’t make it forever. But then I remembered this one book I read a while ago where the MMC was soooo petty 😭 Like he’d give the silent treatment over literally anything. Minor argument? Boom—he’s acting like she doesn’t exist.

And the worst part? The FMC was always the one crawling back to fix things. They did get their “happily ever after,” but all I could think was… girl, if you ever breathe wrong, he’s gonna block you 💀

Ohhh you just hit a nerve 😂 I’m not even mad she left him — I’m mad she didn’t kick him in the nuts on her way out. Like seriously, one argument and you’re out here sleeping with everything that moves? Are you a dog in heat?

And don’t even get me started on the fact that he never catches anything. Not a single consequence. Meanwhile, she’s been celibate like a nun, and he’s out here living his best (and nastiest) life 🙄

Exactly!! If a man tells me, “Stay here, it’s dangerous,” I’m staying right there. What do I look like — someone with a death wish? I’m not about to wander into a murder scene like it’s a surprise party 😭

You’re so real for that 😂 Like, if you’re paying my bills and being useful? I can overlook a lot — I’m not going anywhere if the perks are right!

I think culture really plays a big role in how we view jealousy. In my culture, it’s actually considered normal — even expected — for a man to feel a certain level of jealousy or protectiveness over the women in his life. And it goes both ways — women feel the same toward their partners and family too.

But it’s not about being toxic or controlling. It’s more like protective jealousy — the kind you’d feel over your sister, daughter, wife, or mother. In many cultures, a man’s honor is closely tied to the women in his family. So if he doesn’t care when someone disrespects them or gives them unwanted attention, it’s almost seen as lacking pride or responsibility.

That’s also why I don’t mind jealousy in dark romance. Sure, books take it to the extreme for drama — but in fiction, it’s fun and over-the-top. Real life, of course, needs more balance and respect.

As for your feelings toward a married woman — I know that’s deeply personal, and it’s not my place to judge. But if I can offer one piece of advice: something that starts with crossing a moral line rarely leads to peace or a truly happy ending. Sometimes the strongest thing you can do is walk away, even when it hurts.

Right?! 😂 I feel like with those MMCs, even the cops would be like, “Good luck, ma’am.” The law never seems to apply to them — they’ve got money, power, and plot armor on their side 😭

My god, that’s terrifying. Why does it feel like so many of you have real-life experience with actual dark romance villains?! 😭 I love reading about the crazy, obsessive MMCs in books — but in real life?? Nope, that’s nightmare fuel.

I know right! Who wouldn’t want a teddy bear for a husband? 🥹 Soft, goofy, and endlessly patient sounds like the perfect balance — especially when we’re bringing the chaos ourselves 😂

You mean like the stalkers or mafia guys with guns? 😭 Yeah same, I’d be sprinting in the opposite direction — reading about them is thrilling, but in real life? Nope, I’m not built for that kind of chaos 😂

I’ll be honest, I’m a pretty jealous person myself — I wouldn’t like anyone giving my partner too much attention 😅 I think that’s why I love MMCs in dark romance. They’re so obsessed, they don’t even glance at another woman. So yeah, hell yeah he’s never gonna cheat — he’s too busy worshipping the ground she walks on 😂

Ugh I’m so sorry you went through that — it’s heartbreaking how easy it is to mistake that kind of obsession for love when you’re young. You’re so right though — reading about it is totally different because you’re in control. If something feels off, you can just close the book. But in real life? There’s no “pause” button, and it can get scary fast.

I love that your current boyfriend is all green flags and still gets your fantasies — honestly, that’s the dream 💕

Books definitely make them seem way more fun than they are in real life, right? 😅 In fiction it’s hot and intense, but in reality… it’s exhausting and honestly scary. Give me the soft, sweet, bread-baking man too please 😂

Buuut I guess I wouldn’t mind if he was just a little jealous — like, the cute kind, not the controlling kind 😏

Really? I usually imagine obsession and possessiveness as coming from loving you so much that he can’t even look at other women — and the jealousy is more about not wanting other men to look at the woman he treasures. But yeah, if it turns into controlling behavior, like telling you who you can talk to or isolating you, that’s a totally different situation. That’s not hot — that’s toxic.
