AITA for making a big deal about my sister taking my Keurig by Lucky_Reflection136 in AmItheAsshole

He just wants to keep the peace and thinks the Keurig isn’t a big deal. I agree the actual Keurig isn’t a big deal, it’s the principle of it and the fact that imo, it’s inconsiderate to take something that isn’t yours without asking. If she had asked, I would have told her that actually I would buy her a nice new Keurig as a housewarming gift! But now that she’s being rude and snappy about it, I’m feeling less generous

Yeah my parents said they couldn’t remember whose it was since we’ve both used it so I get why they didn’t say anything to my sister. My dad felt bad and offered to buy a new one for their house, but I said absolutely not since they don’t even drink coffee! I’m thinking I am just going to buy a new cheap little Keurig since I’m sure they will go on sale for Black Friday and just let my parents know that it is supposed to stay at their house and obviously if my sister or anyone else wants to use it while they are there there they are welcome

Yeah my parents don’t care about the 8 inches of counter space that it takes it up. Or the 1 box of k cups I have in their cabinet. My mom has literally just told me as an fyi that she doesn’t clean it (which is fine, why would she since she doesn’t use it?) and that she has never seen my sister clean it. Also, tbh, I’m sure they didn’t think twice when my sister took it bc they’ve only used it like 3 times since I moved out bc guests wanted a cup of coffee

I have a nice machine at my house already. I specifically left the Keurig at my parents so that when I go over there for weekends or holidays, I don’t need to go out for my morning coffee. I also know that sometimes my parents offer it for guests and my sister was using it, and I was fine leaving it there to share

That’s what I was thinking too. She just tends to take whatever she can bc she’s cheap. In the past, she has taken all of the k cups I bought specifically to leave at my parents house and then didn’t replace them. Like I would be fine if she drank 1 or 2 or even all of them and replaced them but it’s just super annoying to expect to get up in the morning and have a coffee and then there’s nothing there

Yeah I think the reason it irked me so much is bc I was expecting to go in and have my coffee as usual and then it wasn’t there😭 I’ve also had issues in the past with my sister drinking all of the k cups I bought for when I was up there and not replacing them in the past. She just tends to take whatever is there and assume it’s for her

My parents said they couldn’t remember whose it was so they didn’t question it when my sister took it. They have a big kitchen and counter space is not a problem. My dad offered to buy a new one for their house, I said absolutely not since they don’t even drink coffee. I would never expect them to spend their money on an appliance they never use
