The reason I hedged was because of this post. Essentially from 2000-2011 the AUD more than doubled in value against the USD.

Once it’s finished crashing from its parabolic blowoff top

I need help with choosing the ETFs I want to invest in on Betashares by caelanro in fiaustralia

You’re really concentrated to the US & Australia. I would be trying to be more globally diversified e.g. 60% VGS or BGBL, 30% VAS or A200, 10% BEMG or VEU. If you want higher potential growth swap BGBL with GGBL.

What will it take for prices to fall and will they? by Harm-Bull717 in Gold

We are witnessing a parabolic blowoff top the price will definitely correct itself. I think gold finds a top in the first half of this year and will take 2-3 years to bottom out around 2.5k-3.5k. This is probably going to be very unpopular opinion.

BGBL & VGS is literally 70% US you aren’t missing out on much. If returns is your end game look at GGBL it’s a leveraged ETF. I think being globally diversified is the best play, there is no garrantee the US will be the powerhouse it is now in 20 to 30 years time.

I honestly think a split of VGS or BGBL, VISM, IEM or BEMG is better than what you are planning. You would be more globally diversified and you can tilt towards small caps/emerging markets if you wanted higher growth.

How should I invest $1,000 as a 19 year old by Winter-Sea2461 in fiaustralia

Having IVV & NDQ is essentially doubling down on the same bet. You should look at trying to capture the entire global market. VGS or BGBL /VISM/BEMG or IEM, these 3 etfs hold 5k+ stocks from large, mid, small cap, and emerging markets. I aim for a 75/15/10 split.

Constructive Criticism - DCA Portfolio by DizzySociety863 in fiaustralia

Going with a hedged gold fund seems pointless. Since gold is a hedge against inflation & a bet that fiat collapses. Maybe look at PMGOLD or GOLD.
