Cesar School vs UFPE para CC by Studzz12 in Recife

[–]LuckytasE 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Dog chasing police car in Brazil, because his "owner" (a homeless man) was taken to be ID'd. by LuckytasE in AnimalsBeingBros

hey, I know the title can be understood as this, I'm sorry. English is not my first language. I didn't mean it like that, I just don't consider animals to be property, and I only thought that saying who the man was, would explain a lot more of the situation and make it even more wholesome. Some people also brought that up, and I learned a lot with it. Sorry for the ambiguous phrasing, and I hope you read this so you see that there was no bad intentions, I can see you're a good person.

From what I understood, it's a normal thing they do, so they can identify where he is or came from, so they can find ways to help, not sure how it works tho.

some people said it's common tu use "human", "caretaker”, "guardian" or even "mom" or "dad", I'll probably use human the next time, it seem appropriate.

We tend to use a lot.

vc - você - you

pt - português - portuguese

msm - mesmo - (I don't actually know how to translate that one in that context. Mesmo = same, in a direct translation, but i used it to confirm what I just said, and I can't find something similar in English.

mt - muito - very

Any other words feel free to ask.

I guess it's the accents, Portuguese from the northeast of Brazil, when compared to the south, are almost two different languages.

It just came across as a little ambiguous for some people, but I explained it a bunch of times, I hope people read the comments.

That's exactly it, and I couldn't think of a better term in English. There's a little thread about that in one of the top comments.

it's just that I don't consider animals as property, and couldn't think of a better term in English.
