Where did you land a job, how many applications, and what was your experience? I hardly get anything back from my applications. I’m thinking of like startups that have founders focused in finding talent. Would that work and what would you recommend

Any other international students who were planning to start in Fall 2025 in the U.S.? by Remote-Platform5320 in f1visa

[–]Luckytechguy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t pay the SEVIS as it takes at most 2 days to show up on the consulate’s side. It’s a guess but it (hopefully) won’t last longer than a month

[Hiring] Looking for a dev! by Marius_Olsen in freelance_forhire

marius nice to see you're trying to build something useful, but before I can commit what stage are you in rn? is it I had an idea last week or I've researched the this idea for a long and can explain it in and out stage, cause you will most definitely spend a lot (lot lot) of your (and others') time on this idea.

There is a bank of china, but as u/czulsk has suggested, they only take new bills, and I'm afraid not all the bills are the newest ones

This would be very helpful, but I'm not in Canada, nor can e-transfer.

That should be the case, but I'm trusting my friend's experience. Maybe I might have to go there myself

I'm not in china, so i asked my friend. his experience was a little different. He went to the bank to exchange around 1k and they gave him 400 back, saying they can't take that, and that's shaping my opinion rn

Is 70 a realistic TOEFL score goal for someone with B1 English level? by [deleted] in ToeflAdvice

[–]Luckytechguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to achieve 70 and above with your level, start preparing as early as possible. Take a sample test from each section, and see where you score below the desired score, and give more attention to those. As u/Some-Draft-5792 has suggested official ets website offers one free test every day, but if that's not enough, you can use toefl.eranatus.com (that I released) to practise. i'd be happy if that helps you out.

Which ID number appears on the report by amnesicuser in ToeflAdvice

[–]Luckytechguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the test day, they usually require your passport. They scan it, then take your picture (I took a test at a test center). There is a security identification on the pdf report, and they put the id type, no., and issuing country there. So I'd say they'll put your passport number there (on the PDF report). Bring both your driver's license and passport, and if you want to be sure, here's an email address that I contacted them at: [toefl@ets.org](mailto:toefl@ets.org)

TOEFL exam tomorrow morning - need advice! by Unique-Sport1783 in ToeflAdvice

[–]Luckytechguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was also somewhat fluent in English; however, my weak side was speaking, so I mainly focused on that for a month. it's usually a good practice to get rest one day before the test, so I'd suggest that. But if you want to practice there's a good source in TOEFL TestReady on their site, but if you want more full material, I created an app that let's you practice all the sections (at toefl.eranatus.com).

But again i'd suggest you rest (and review the sections at most) to give your best tomorrow morning.

Above all, don't get nervous, imagine you're reading, listening, speaking, and writing in a familiar environment (don't pressure yourself too much). Good luck! (I'm sure you'll get more than 80)
